What was she feeding on before? If she's used to prekilled food, a live rodent running around could be intimidating. Balls are picky snakes, and will let a meal pass them by in hopes that a more ideal food source comes their way. My female ball will only eat if she's enclosed in a dark feed box with a dead rodent. All of the others like the food to wiggle a bit, lol. If she's secure in her enclosure and not showing signs of distress I'd look at changing the feeding methods. Contact the breeder and ask them specifically how and what she was eating.

If you are adverse to this sort of thing, ball pythons will leave you frustrated; sometimes they just stop eating, and then, all of a sudden, they are eating again.

Have you tried offering different prey? Perhaps she has a taste for rats, or would prefer F/T or pre-killed? It took us almost a month to figure out what Delilah (my first BP) preferred... she rejected a live rat pup, pinkie and F/T rat pup, before we discovered she only likes live mice. Now she eats like a champ! :gj: Just be patient, and your snake will eat eventually.

Oh, and you could also try the paper bag trick, which my local herp store suggested with Delilah. Basically you just put the snake and prey in a paper bag, and leave them in it (securely) overnight... just be careful doing this with live adult prey, since they could potentially bite the snake. Another supposedly "magic" trick is feeding them African Soft-Furs, but I've heard that can make them REALLY picky in the long run.

Are you talking about the snake that's in your icon? I've seen you post about him/her before, and from looking at that pic (though it's fuzzy) it looks like a jumbo might be too big for him/her.
