I try to name all of mine, but sometimes I forget the name or change it to something else. I name a lot of them after the people I got them from, some have names that just kind of came to me. (yup, that sure looks like a Lester to me...) and others just kept the names they came with.

I just find it easier to refer to them by name then by number.

i've got 2... 2 more coming thursday and tuesday probably.

Mine kind of name themselves, and since i use my big girl for education people always want to know "whats her name." I plan on doing more educational viewings for people so i'll continue giving them names.

I only want to end up with 30 max resident snakes so they'll have names i remember.

My big girl is Aspen (like the tree) and my baby is still naming herself, i'm debating between Cadpig and Pidget.

My snakes do get names, but sometimes it takes a snake months to acquire it's name. I like to find a name that suits the snake, if possible. Whether it be because of their personality, color/pattern, or a habit they have, they get named something! I would say there are easily 60 permanently named snakes here, and a few more still acquiring their name, and that's how I remember the names, because they have some kind of meaning to me and are not just a randomly assigned thing. some examples:

Bella- my spoiled little female pastel BP
Splat- female Bp with a big SPLAT pattern on her side
Eric Cartman- fat and angry male BP
    Thief- banded BP
Kenny- I thought he was dead once
Sly - shy little spider BP
Cinnabun- BP looks like... a cinnamon roll
    Ra,
    Isis &
Osiris - king rat snakes named for egyptian gods
Sledge- hognose, valentines day gift, since my boyfriend's last name is Hammer we named our "son" sledge :)

Dishwasher- escaped and turned up 3 months later in that household appliance

Tightie Whitie- this name was never meant to stick, but it did.... the white sided black rat snakes just remind me of those underwear... and I would call her that jokingly but now it's her name!

    Bandit
    Rose
    Milkshake
    Smoothie
    Nanners

Radish- A plains garter snake (thamnophis radix). I brought her home as a baby from the show and saw my mom, I said MOM I FINALLY GOT A RADIX! I knew she didn't know what that meant but I didn't care. Then she asked me why the hell I bought a radish at a snake expo....

    Other garter snake names:

    Bluela
    Bluebie
    Olivia
    Lipstick
    Checkers
    Orangetime
    Orangeness
    Marcy
    Mister mustard
    Satan
    Piggy
    Chunkybutt
    Brighteyes
    Stubby

I could go on ALL day!!!

I used to name them all, and I find it easier to keep track of them if I do, but I get too attached to them once I name them.

Well, I'm a new snake-daddy; and I don't think I'll ever have any where near as many as some folks do (just another snake or two and some lizards some day), but I can't imagine not naming a pet. I talk to all of my pets, so I think it would be rude to not address them by their names. My Balls are named George, cuz he is very curious; and Aunt Bea cuz I'm a fan of The Andy Griffith Show (don't ask why). Good question!

I named my ball python Abuja because Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, where there's a tribe that will hold a funeral and everything for ball pythons.

We do that at Canine Assistants (we train service dogs). All the litters are themed - cartoon dogs, cities, universities, golf litter, reindeer litter, etc.
