you must consider with snake u prefer the most,a pet snake or display snake.if u like display snake,i suggest boa or gtp.if u want a tame snake,i prefer ball python.

Colubrids. Active, colorful, easy to care for, broad range to choose from.
BUT, this being a BP forum, Pythons are going to win the poll.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
Boas all the way!! How can you call a boa a display snake and not a tame one??? I've had BP's before and boas are far superior, as long as you don't over feed and handle on a regular basis they don't get fat and gigantic and stay docile oh and they don't muddy out like most bp morphs

I've only ever seriously kept my ball python, so I can't really say. I mean I had a few colubrids when I was a kid, but dad took care of them, and my rat snake didn't last long enough for me to get a good idea. So i can't really say.
Appearance-wise, I gotta say BCCs, then BCI, then ball pythons, then either BRBs, MBKs, or indigo snakes. That is, the normals for all of those, no morphs.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
It's really hard to choose. I keep and enjoy them all of those types of snakes. I love the color and morph variety available with corn snakes and how easy they are to care for. I am mainly a corn snake breeder and have more corns than anything else, but I don't find them quite as enjoyable to handle as boas and pythons. They don't usually bite or anything, but they always seem like they mostly want to get away from you. I also have a pair of Mexican black kings, which are gorgeous to look at, but I don't really like to handle them much, because they tend to musk a lot and also seem like they just want to get away. I really love my ball pythons and all the gorgeous morph possibilities, as well as their size and how easy they are to handle, but I have to admit I sometimes get frustrated that they go on feeding fasts. Good thing I have red tail boas and a super dwarf retic to eat up the rats that are dangled for the ball pythons and refused. Never any waste. I love that the red tail boas will eat anything you give them consistently, and they are very friendly, inquisitive and nice to handle. However their large size and girth limits me to only having three of them for now. (I'm pretty sure I will find a way to keep a super sunglow motley once I produce one, though). I think right now I would have to say that my purple albino super dwarf retic is my favorite snake. She has it all: Gorgeous bright color and interesting pattern, super easy handling and inquisitiveness, the perfect size; four feet long now, and she should not get more than about 8 feet long and never heavy-bodied. And she eats whatever I feed her every time.
The Perfect Snake (in my opinion): Purple Albino Super Dwarf Reticulated Python

I prefer Ball pythons. But if I may say I think our answers here are going to be a little bias since you posted it in the Ball Python threads. If you want a true gauge of what people think with out being bias then i would post it in General Herp. Just my opinion. But love the BPs.

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
What about cribos?
I love balls and bloods and many other pythons, but I am a boa girl at heart. Boa constrictors are big (but not unmanageable), heavy-bodied, gorgeous, and have very distinctive personalities and are usually very sweet but great feeders at the same time. Honestly, it doesn't get any better than that!

Re: pythons vs. boas vs colubrids
Pythons and im not speaking of just balls. I have always liked pythons the most, there is just something about pythons ive always liked. I do like boas and colubrids too but they don't intrigue me as much as pythons do.
