I have had females lock for a year and a half before Ovulating so just because they lock doesnt mean she is cycling or will become gravid. Just keep pairing until you see that Ovy or eggs.

I have snakes that lay in Janurary and snakes lay in October (and every month inbetween) all kept in the exact same conditions. They will go when they want to, sometimes the locking and male interaction will start the breeding cycle so just keep going until you get eggs. I have 5 clutches laid already in 2009 with one hatched. I dont follow a specific routine, I pair year round depending on what my females are telling me and they go when they go.

    Best of luck JC:snake:

Yea, my female burgundy sjed on april 8th 09 now she is in shed again may 8 09 and she has 9 big follicles in her im wondering is that normal for them to shed so quickly and im sure she didnt ovy yet because it should take 4 to 6 weeks from the pre ovy shed til she ovy's right and i have been checking eveyday. and fro the first shed i seen her glow.

Matt, If they are building rapidly they will shed more often because of their girth increasing -- similar to a really big meal throwing a snake into a shed.

I don't pay any attention to dates of pre-ovulation sheds -- only post. Maybe others do ?? I have not found it helpful in my breeding and would be just one MORE thing to keep track of.:)
