It's actually quite annoying for me, especially since they came out with a cup that explained the pronunciation.

    Other pet peeves:

I want to "aks/axe" you a question. Seriously. Open your mouth and speak clearly!

Other random cultural things I've heard from living in Richmond, Virginia:

"I need to go put something in the freezerator." O_o
"We'll go out for dinner after he's been funeralized." O_O

Seriously. Maybe, if you checked on the freezerator, you wouldn't need to be funeralized.

Oh, and for the record, Kanye West is an idiot. The man should never been given the chance to open his mouth. Ever.

I hate it when I walk around hearing "aks/axe" when referring to asking. The large majority of my peeves centralize around ignorant fools being the lowest of the low. Improper English drives me nuts. I may speak with a slight southern accent, but its hardly noticeable. And when I hear "ain't got no" I wanna pull my hair out. Ever instant message someone to see all the acronyms pop up on the screen? Jesus, that kills me.:rolleyes:

Try living in Jersey, where you hear "wood-er" instead of water. Drives me bonkers and we are doing our damndest (is this one okay) to make sure my 5-year-old doesn't develop that habit.

I'm fluent in Spanish... the 'h' is the only silent letter, really... and all words get second to the last syllable stress unless the word is accented, so it should be chi-POTE-ley (since there is no soft 'o' either)...

And this is why we don't really hold them to either a high culinary or linguistic standard. ;)

Did anyone see the South Park making fun of Kanye and Carlos Mencia? It was awesome!

Kanye: "I don't need anyone tellin' me no play on words, I'm a motha flippin' lyrical word smith motha flippin' genius! I'm the genius voice of a generation!

Carlos: "It's true, man, I stole it. I took credit for it cause I'm not actually funny. Come on, man. Do you know what it's like being a comedian but not being funny. Come on, Kanye. I just take jokes and repackage them with a Mexican accent, man. Look at me man. I'm not funny, I steal jokes, my wiener don't work, man.

Since somebody was already talking about the Mainers...

My friend asked me once if I wanted to play 'hots'... when I didn't understand, he said "You know, hots, the cod game."

Then I had to make him say 'hot' and 'heart,' then 'cod' and 'card'... silly Yanks! :P
