I'm really hoping they don't, or at least most of them don't. It's a mystery to me why some kink and some don't. You hear some people claim that your best bet to reduce kinking is to breed hets only, which I think is a big reason why you never hear of people breeding homozygous to homozygous. To me this makes no sense. If the kinking IS related or linked to the mutation, it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever whether the pairing was het to het or het to homozygous or homozygous to homozygous. Personally I've always thought that the kinking had some other reason rather then being a purely genetic problem. That's why I think it'll be interesting to see how the babies turn out, it should help uncover another piece to the puzzle.

Mark I have no idea why some kink and others don't. Wish I knew! If the clutch turns out to be a disaster I know that I won't do it again! I think that kinking just comes with the Caramel gene no matter where they come from!

Wow. That is nice just looking at the pic, much less imagining the offspring (and the next generation).

I've heard from 2 different sources now that caramels might be more sensitive to humidity while incubating and they do better (less kinking) if incubated at a lower humidity.

One was a post on here so I'll try to find the link.

    EDIT: Here it is:

Looks like an great pairing & het or homozygous has nothing to do with reducing or increasing the expression of a genetic defect. They will be what they will be, here's to healthy offspring!

I am glad that you two like her. You two are very nice people! You have to love non kinked Caramels.

Brock, how did this clutch turn out? Did you get any babies born with kinks? Did all the eggs go full term? How many eggs did you get and how many babies hatched out?

I guess this proves that caramel x caramel=sucessful results for those of you who were wondering about a rumor that a caramel clutches have not been produced by a caramel female.
