Blue penis, and even some blue scrotum, can be a bit unnerving. You should try to stop looking at it.

I don't really understand why anyone who didn't read the comic wanted to see it 'so badly'.

Why were there lines and lines of crowds, and midnight shows filled and sold out? This just confuses me.

    I want my squid..

    ***********SPOILERS!***************************

Guy couldnt get it done and join with hot woman that he's obviously longed for, it was a little rushed for him.

They go out and kick some ass, something they hadn't done for a long time after being forced out by Nixon, it rekindles that dim light, that light that used to burn for justice and fighting evil. They were good at it, and they missed it.

In the afterglow of this renewed motivation, they come together to celebrate, to express the love they had for each other.

It was a little graphic, and probably didnt need to be as long, but I found myself more embarrassed for older folks in the theater who probably found it too graphic.

Why is it that people squirm during the creation of life, but dont flinch at its bloody painful destruction?

This movie isnt for the kiddies, it's rated R for a reason.

I felt that I should have to explain the sex scene, some people are a little dim to see the point. I'm not sorry if some people walked out during the movie, your just missing out on a really great story. Don't expect this to be all happy spiderman crybaby movie. It's the anti-"comic".

I highly agree. In my family it has always been free talk about sex because it shouldn't be all 'hush hush'. It's natural, and even a beautiful creation.. most of the time.
The more hushed it is in a family, the less likely the children will be open if something happens down the future, because they think they'll be scolded or thrown out. I would not want my children to think I care so little.

Sex is something that you do in private. I don't care to ever see anyone else having sex other than my wife and I.

    As for the violence...

I agree the violence was too graphic but I think I have been desensitized to it. Not that it should be an excuse. I suppose if most TV and movie had sex scenes like this I would be desensitized to those as well. Desensitized or not though, it doesn't make it right.

The violence followed the novel extremely well. Since they were making this 'just as the novel was written' except for the ending, it makes sense that they don't cut out the graphic scenes. Sex, or violence.
Not everyone would agree that sex is private. I don't think it should be exploited, but talking about it shouldn't be such a darned 'sin' either. I'm 17 and I openly talk about it with many of my friends (many are men) and my mother and my boyfriend.

Edit: Also, if your immature enough to complain or laugh consistently about something small like the visibility of Mr. Manhattan's penis, then you shouldn't be seeing a rated R movie.
