While you would think that there would be nobody left who could be dumb enough to fall for any of the scams originating in Cameroon or Nigeria or elsewhere for that matter, just last year a man that was the County Treasurer for a rural Michigan County fell for a scam from Africa where he sent many thousands of dollars of County funds to a scammer as "good faith" money in one of those scams where a "banker" needed someone to claim to be a relative of a deceased person to get the money released from the deceased person's bank account. He said that he intended to replace the County funds when he got his big windfall before it was noticed that the money was gone. He left his County bankrupt and insolvent. They were sending him off to the big house. If just one in a million people is that stupid, no wonder the scammers keep trying.

That's a good point.. Alot of them do clearly state they're from cameroon. They might as well say "Hello I'm a scammer." You would think they'd get a clue and lie about the location.

But not all of them say out right that they're from cameroon. I've seen "trained" piebalds for "adoption" plus $180 each for shipping, and that was out of Pennsylvania. I talked to the "lady" and when I asked about her horrible english she claimed she was from France.

Wow on that one add 6-10 months for incubation? Boy I'm not gonna have babies for another year!

My brother in law fell for one of those, someone sent him a check for $4,000 and he was supposed to cash it and send back all but $400. He cashed it kept the money, spent it all, just so he could be stuck paying back the bank for the next couple years, and he almost went to jail for cashing a stolen check. He was just lucky that in court he sounded as stupid as he really was

Gotta love Craig's List. I'm sorry but if someone is stupid enough to fall for a scam like this they deserve whatever they (don't) get. At this point these kind of things have been happening for over 10 years now. There's no excuse anymore not to be on guard against them.
