Re: How do you euthanize your rodents?
I have one snake that refuses frozen thawed mice but he is terrible at constricting so I always prekill for him. The one time I gave him a live one, he got it by the leg and didn't even wrap it. The mouse had a good 30 seconds before he got a coil around it (it didn't bite my snake, thank god). But since I only euthanize one mouse at a time, I find that cervical dislocation is the easiest method. But I have extensive experience with this method, make sure you do it right!

If they are pinkies- I feed live or freeze live
if they are fuzzies- I feed live or freeze live
hoppers+- I place a butter knife behind the neck and pull the tail, usually this is a quick death and not much movement afterwards. That being said not many get to live this long as my Ball only eats once a shed as he's crazy picky:)

I feel live and breed my own feeders to each his own and I understand where your coming from but alot of people think just because they're buying a frozen rodent it means it didn't suffer, that's just incorrect.
i dont think that it is very painful for a rodent to be constricted by a snake except for the first few seconds. the constriction of the snake cuts off the blood flow to the brain and therefore just makes the mouse pass out, before it becomes fully deceased. now sticking it in the freezer on the other hand would be a long slow agonizing death in my opinion.
Re: How do you euthanize your rodents?
Just like I was shown the first time. Smack em on your wrist and let them twitch. Cruel hunh! Been doin it for years.
Re: How do you euthanize your rodents?
quick and easy cervical dislocation. It's really quit simple. I keep saying I'm going to make a vid on it but there are vids on you tube. The one I found is not how I do it. I use a pair of long tweezers behind the head. It is very quick. Much quicker than c02.
I will try to get something made at some point. Next feeding perhaps.YouTube - pre kill mouse, feed corn snake

How do you suggest doing this to a larger/jumbo rat? Would the last video be the same method you are talking about?
