Generally my cats and the snakes I've had for longer periods of time show no interest in each other. Accidents can still happen though. Once I was filling water dishes and while I was in the bathroom one of the kitties decided to jump in the open 4' x 2' Sumatran short tail cage and got bit in the head. I'd only had that snake for about a year and got him as an adult and he still thought cats smelled like food.

I have one female BP and two cats in the house. Usually, the snake remains in her tank in the bedroom, and the cats stay out of the bedroom completely, so there's no confrontation. But during this past month, I had to do some cleaning in the bedroom, so for about a week, the BP lived out in the living room in her tank.

My male cat could care less, but my female cat was f r e a k i n g out.

She'd sit right in front of the tank and stare at my BP for hours, and would jump literally a foot in the air and bolt halfway across the house when anyone made the slightest noise or movement near her. My BP carried on with her usual business, though, so I guess my situation seems kind of the opposite as yours. It was really amusing, though.

We have 2 Kittens, one almost 1 yr and another that is only a cpl weeks. when I got my female BP we only had the older kitten. Dunno if that has anything to do with it. Being the cats have full access and the scent has been around longer than I've had my BP. The cats seem more Interested in the snake than the other way around. Altho if my snake should happen to escape, I dont think it would be a happy ending.

Altho I can say, that one day i was holding my BP near one of the cats, and they sniffed eachother, with no worries. But, the cat yawned and the snake struck the air facing away from the cat.

We also have Fish and a Guinea pig, and so far all is well.
