    People are allowed to research before buying new pets :) Breeders sell snakes for prices that they will sell. Can't expect them to jack up the price, making legitimate buyers pay extra just to keep stupid people from making mistakes.

    EDIT: using the term "stupid people" generically, not talking about the horrible tragedy that this thread is about

    i too have to agree, not disputing the fact that i could, did, or that is a tragedy, that the snake shown appears much smaller than EITHER of the sizes mentioned in the article.

    The snake is coiled up in a corner. Retics aren't fat snakes like anacondas. They are long and slender. A 7' retic coiled up looks like a 4' boa coiled up.

    Also, who knows the size of the aquarium you can see it in? For all you know it's a 100+ gallon one.

    This girl I use to own doesn't look like the 11' she was when coiled up.
