The reason I believe his back to be broken is just that he appears paralyzed from a certain distinct point in his body, down the rest of the way. Almost as if, two thirds of him is already dead. I had fed him right before I left town, so maybe just the extreme heat caused a gaseous eruption in his stomach as the prey broke down, which would have the effects of causing infection and bloating in the general vicinity of the rupture as he went septic, and swelling putting pressure on the spinal nerve causing him to be paralyzed from said point down. Problem is, neither of these options really provide any light at the end of the tunnel.

Just take him to the vet and then you'll see if there is something that can be done for him... Again, I am truly very sorry for this sadness...

Ben, it was very sad to come across this news from you. I have had a heating accident before as well that killed some snakes and almost killed a couple more. The rat in the digestive system of your snake is probably a big problem. I hope your snake pulls through but I know you will make the best decisions for him at the vet visit. Very sorry for your misfortune.

wow.. so sorry to hear of this. all crossables crossed that all goes well at the vet. I think its time for a padlock or a deadbolt on your bedroom door. prevent any more stupidity from people who think messing with other peoples stuff and animals is fun.

    So sorry to hear that.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago when I went home for the weekend from school. Someone had gotten into my room and decided to play with the thermostat on my crested gecko cage. Good thing the heat was supplied as a small hotspot cause they would have been cooked by the time i got back.

    Hope everything turns out ok
