I am not promoting or encouraging anything illegal. I'm just offering my opinion on what could have been a motive for someone to break into the greenhouse, peek inside the sealed bag, then leave without taking anything... ;) :D

Re: CSI: My Backyard
my two cents would be , as you have already stated it looks like a paintball and thats kinda what i think it is but i think maybe it was a frozen paintball thats why you never found paint

Re: CSI: My Backyard
In pic two and three i see a possible culprit.(The ladder.)
If i were you i would check and see if the feet of the ladder match up to the damage...It almost looks like someone was trying to straddle the ladder between the two buildings or something and ended up jamming the bottom into the greenhouse.

Re: CSI: My Backyard
It looks as if the culprits made the holes to see what is inside of your greenhouse. And by then they probably saw the bails of pine through the holes, and then went in to further investigate to see what the bags of pine held. As for theThat is just my :2cent:, I use to live in a bad neighborhood as a child and I saw what people would do to steal things, leave your bike out in your backyard by your vicious dog and 15 min. later its gone for good.
Yall stay safe now!

Re: CSI: My Backyard
Not trying to discredit others' opinions, but that hole looks a little too big to be made by a paintball. Also, a paintball, even a frozen one, wouldn't explain the clean cuts to the plastic on the inside of the greenhouse. If it were a paintball as suggested, I would expect more of the same stretching and ripping of the plastic as we see on the outside.
As far as the ladder theory goes, it appears the puncture travels at an upward angle. Therefore, if you had the ladder leaned against the roof of the shed, the angle would be downward. I don't think that there would even be enough room to tilt the ladder upside down and create an upward puncture like this seems to be.

Re: CSI: My Backyard
Have you ask your neighbors, see if they have heard anything or seen anyone? (That is of course if your greenhouse is visable to them.)

Re: CSI: My Backyard
Have you ever seen anyone in the area practicing with an arrow or crossbow? I'm thinking that perhaps an arrow or bolt from an untuned bow was looped over the shed. If its untuned it may wobble which would explain the larger tear. The bolt or arrow then deflected off something and then entered the bale. It's possible, maybe not plausible, but who knows.

I agree what ever did it must be in that bail. But i dont know what it could be, how would a bird get enough speed to go threw that with the house being so close? Please keep us posted :please:

Re: CSI: My Backyard
Haha, no guys the ladder was definately not part of it, I had just put the ladder there about 2 minutes before taking that picture. I was in the garage, about 100 yards away from that greenhouse, it wasn't that...
