My 16 ft. female would let out a long slow hiss from time to time. She didn't ever seem distressed or agitated--she just did it. It always made me laugh. :snake:

Yea my 11ft green burm male, will hiss when you open his cage, then when you pull him out, and while you hold him for the first minute or 2, then he decides to keep it to himself lol

Everytime I handle my 7' carpet he's quiet for about 5 to 10 mins and then starts to sound like semi truck brakes.

..quiet...quiet...quiet...HISSSSSSSSSSSSSS.........quiet...quiet... The air comes out of his nostrils so forcefully that you can feel it on your face from a couple of feet away.

I always thought he was losing patience with being handled and simply expressing himself. My other snakes would do this but nowhere near so strong. I had a buddy over recently and I told him about it and he said that it was simply a symptom of exertion - heavy breathing from exercise. Makes sense since he never tries to bite me.

    Geeez yes!

Bogart was my first snake and he would put on a show - hissin' like crazy everytime I would go to get him out as if to say leave me alone. Then of course, after being out for a few hours you couldn't get him back in the tank!

Nope.. Just a striker. Cant walk by her cage without hearing a thump from her hitting the door. Shes fairly good once she is out. Needs to be hooked out but after that she is just a little nervous. Breathes kinda heavy but no hissing so far. She is a 4 year old, 6 ft rescue and she is easier to handle than I would expect but she cant be trusted. I say she but I have not yet probed her yet. Educated guess lol

Was evaluating all my burms after this post and all to some degree hiss...Some just one quick hiss and then like my Hypo...Hyper hissing, but has mellowed out a good amount...Will no only hiss for a couple of minutes or after a quick move...But damn the breath stinks!!!! Like musky breath!!!
