I would say go with a Corn, Kingsnake or the ultimate display snake green tree python.

In the early stages of their lives...yes.
As adults, it depends a lot on the individual: some are (almost) ok - during the day, I mean - others....well, you get the picture. In the evening/night, I risk saying that only one or two in a hundred+ won´t strike at anything (specially warm) that goes inside the cage.

Furthermore, it also has to do with their locale (type). Biaks are usually more agressive while Arus and Sorongs are calmer.

By the way, the pic of my JCP display seemed to have disapeared, so here it is again (showing off, I know...I know...)

i know this thread is old but im debating what kind of snake to get as well. i was dead set on a ball but i would also like something thats out and about more than a ball. i really like the idea of having an arboreal snake like a carpet or green tree python. are the tree pythons handlable like balls? how do their prices compare to like a pastel for example.

    my mind might be changing...

Jungle Carpet Pythons are AWESOME display snakes.

My JCP is almost never hiding (about 5% of the time) and he's always perched or just chilling in his tank. They're also semi-arboreal so it's fun to watch them climb.

Good size too... mine's just over 6ft and he only needs a 3x2x2 cage.

Carpets I don't know about, but Green Tree Pythons / Amazon Tree Boas / Emerald Tree Boas generally are not very interested in being handled.
