Sometimes too what appears to be a genetic issue may not be. Take our male boa Severus for example. When he was born he was deemed defective. He had a permanent crook at the end of his tail, like it was always stuck in the curled position and a visible though slight underbite.

We took him as an adoption for our son Luke as a pet. Fast forward a number of months, Sev is growing like a bad weed and one day....his tail suddenly is flexible. Now I had been giving that area a bit of a massage whenever he was out being handled but not like I think that made any real difference.

Fast forward a few more months and suddenly we notice that the bite issue has resolved itself. His jaws meet perfectly with absolutely no underbite anymore. I don't know how to explain it really. I guess his face just had to grow or something.
