no offense but you got ripped off big time i could change a fuel pump and filter for $50 it only takes about 15 minutes to do it im in the wrong hobby i need to start working on cars full time instead of as a hobby seriously i dont know what kind of car you have but im assuming its a newer car with fuel injection where the fuel pump is in the tank that takes 15 minutes to fix and is a $50 job and if the car is older where the fuel pump is on the side of the block it takes even less time that guys a crook pop the bottom of the rear seat out which just clips in remove 4 screws to the access panel pop the wires off which is a clip another clip holds the pump in the tank it takes 15 minutes i hate crooks
My Dodge truck became a money pit towards the end. Fuel pump, water pump, and finally the tranny. Now I bought a 2007 Honda CR-V. Great little SUV, good on gas, has a lot of pep. All for $660 monthly for the next 4 years. Yes it's high, but I bought the top unit and I had bad credit.

Re: Dang, my car busted
Yeah.. we pay out the wazoo for two truck payments. But it is worth it to have something newer that is still under warranty. It is a lose-lose situation for most like us. Either pay upteenth dollars for car payments, or spend money every month fixing an older car that you bought for cash. Ain't life grand?

I have never bought a new car for myself. You loose too much money the minute you drive it off the lot. The reason cars start to have lots of issues generally means people neglected it until it became the elephant in the room. As long as you keep maintenance up on a car and take care of things as they come up their is no reason you should not be able to get at least 20 years or 200,000 miles out of a vehicle at least every GM car or truck I've owned made that. The Ford truck came in a little low at only 160,000 miles before I had to trade it in. I had one Mazda MX-5 for a while but it died (Manual tranny and rear end both puked their guts at the same time leaving gears and all kinds of metal on the street) at around 90,000 miles. I will not be getting another mazda again after that experience.
The wife on the other had gets what she wants and that is why she got a new car this year.
