Re: What I lost for my birthday
    Thanks everybody.

I'm still looking for her (I've gone through the garage again, with no luck) and have set out rats in cages (bars are too small for her to get into, but hoping she'll hang out near it) in various places around the immediate vicinity, as well as her hide boxes.

Skoalbasher, yes you offended me (and hurt my feelings) but it's alright. Everyone has bad days, and we're not always kind on those days. No hard feelings. I've already got scented food out for her, and yes it was daytime. A GPS tracker would be really useful right about now...however about her not wanting to eat, I don't think that's the problem, since she has never refused a meal...she LOVES her rats. The problem is that there are wild rats in the area as well, not just the ones I breed for the snakes. She might be able to find an easy food source outside.

I appreciate the concern. And for those who have negative feelings about me, and think that I'm looking for sympathy or something---fine. You can have your opinions. I told the whole story because I wanted to share it, not because I expected anything. It's just another reminder that the cages we keep them in are not as secure as we think they are, and that we need to be extra careful. Yes, I screwed up. I will freely admit that. Does that satisfy you? I screwed up, and I lost my pet because of that. And I absolutely guarantee that I feel worse about it than any of you, because this is the snake I have raised from 97 grams for a year and four months. Yes, I feel terrible. If you're trying to make me feel worse, well congratulations. You've succeeded. Great job. Congratulations.

Go find someone else to harass, please and thank you. Henceforth I shall not acknowledge you in any posts I might make in this thread.

Houzi, Yeah, I'm searching...Unfortunately (perhaps fortunately for her?) I live in a rural area; my yard is an acre and a half of grass...bordered on all sides by forest. I'm worried though because there are a lot of free ranging dogs and cats in the area, and we have a LOT of hawks and falcons. We have a red shouldered hawk that hunts out of my yard--I don't know if it'd eat a snake, but it's had a try at my rats (almost ran into the screen on my porch!) and I'm worried about that.

Lowen, yeah, that's what I've been doing...LOTS of places she could hide around here! I'm just really worried she's decided that a car engine is a nice safe place to hide. I check under my tires before I drive anywhere, now. And yeah, so am I! Luckily it's perfect weather for snakes, right now, it being 88-93 in the daytime and falling to 73ish at night.

Nothing to do now but keep looking, I guess.

Hey good luck finding her man. I think some people should really just learn to keep there comments to themselves sometimes. It's obvious you didn't mean to lose your pet and I know how I would feel if the same thing happened to me. At least you're in an area where the snake has a good chance of getting by outside! If my snake got away up here I don't think it would last long at all. Even during the summer nighttime temps are usually around 40-50 degrees. Keep us posted man!

I am sorry to hear this.. I hope you find your bp.

I too have lost a pet, my iguana(3yrs) old, I had him in my son's room basking in the window, my husband opened the door. My iguana got out, went down stairs, & got out a ripped window screen. Our windows are low in the livingroom/ dinningroom.

Jade has been missing for over a year. I put posters up, even added a reward if he was found. But no luck. My hubby still hasn't fixed that window screen.

Keep the faith, you may find your bp.
