Try natural light and see if they work out better.. I think I'm going to try that today when I get home from work to get a better color from my girl.

I should clarify, after flipping through one of my ball books it's a burgundy albino.

im pretty sure that its the same morph as the paragon owned by renaisance reptiles and also the urban pythons Toffee ball.

what makes a snake a burgundy? I've been trying to find a decription and pics of the coloration to be able to tell, but no two pics have the same features or descriptions.

I think burgundy can get confused with sulfur a lot. Sulfurs are co-doms i believe and some of their offspring when crossed with a normal have a reddish tint to them and look obviously different. I don't think these are burgundies, but they are pretty awesome nontheless.
A few sulfur pics (scroll down a ways):

A burgundy is a recessive coloration. It can be like a ghost, where it sheds clear and has no black, just a reddish brown tint. I think the problem is that there are at least a few different genetic "burgundies" and there aren't a lot of specifics. I think the main traits for a burgundy are red wash and no black coloration, they may have clear sheds, but this does not seem to be necessary for the color to be a genetic trait. I don't think the burgundy is the most well studied trait and it is very subtle and SUPER hard to photograph in a way that conveys the coloration.
Currently I have been trying to photograph a snake i think may have something genetic, and a burgundy seems to be the best guess. From what others tell me, it may be burgundy if the snake has all the black replaced with a brownish red color. There is no yellow and no black, and the browns are pinkish or reddish. It seems to follow the hypo or ghost pattern in that it has no black, the color is subtle and often they shed clear.
This isn't a morph like a spider-in your face and obvious! which i guess is kind of good because it means it's easier to get missed as a valuable thing.

I figured this was the best place to post this, so here goes...

In October of 2008, I picked a female out of a group of snakes listed on CL as simply "adult female ball pythons". I met with the seller and picked what I thought was a nice looking female from the group he had with him. Once home, I emailed the seller for more info on the particular female that I had taken home. He said that he had originally purchased her as a gravid "Het RED BURGUNDY TYPE-1" from JnJReptiles who obtained her in a lot of wc gravid females from Ian Gniazdowski of Outback Reptiles in Virginia.

I bought her at a fraction of he paid for her and didn't really concern myself on the subject until now. Now that I'm more interested in breeding balls and planning out breeding projects in advance, I'm more curious about what this "het red burgundy type-1" business is all about...?

Here is a pic of the female in question:

I'm trying to prove out this female.

    http://www.coreywoods.com/Burgundy/burgundy02.jpg

It's been a tough go. Originally I had 3 burgandy females. I ended up selling off 2 of them and keeping this female.

She's only ever produced 1 clutch for me and that was back in 2006. 1.1 Lessers het Burgandy and 1.4 Het Burgandys. Back in 2006 I produced 96 clutchs so I was tight for space back at my old place. So, I turfed the male into the pet trade and kept the 1.1 Lessers het Burg and 0.4 het Burg. Well, my lesser het burg male is gay 98% of the time. He'll breed a female if you leave him alone with her for a couple weeks and then he might think about spurring her tomorrow......etc.

I am going to produce a couple clutches but since the lesser is such a poor breeder they are going to be mixed clutches.
