    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

Men should not get lower back tattoos....Nuff said!

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

    2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery
Tats (many) and piercings (if piercings include ears that are pierced all the way up...)

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.
Hmmm, it's is probably pretty even at this point with women still having a slight edge.

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
For me, attractiveness is way more than skin deep and I never judge a man based on the colors of his skin!

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
Sadly, I feel that it is more acceptable for a female to under a body mod since female body mods have been happening forever...darn patriarchal society...

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
Oh jeez, hope not, I have 2 tats on my upper arms!!!!

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
I got my tats because I wanted them. I got my first one back in 1980 and have been adding to the collection ever since. Not my own amusement, but at my own choosing.

    1. Male
2.A.Dragons and a fire/star symbol on both forearms. Tribal on back. Superman on left bicep.
B.Both earlobes (stretched too), libret, lip, tongue, and *cough-cough* (thats right)
    C.None
3.Depends on the person not the sex
    4.Most definately
    5.N/A
6.Men. Men started showing off tats earlier and many military men back in the day had tats so they became accepted sooner. Women with tats were once labelled as whores/tramps/trashy but times have changed and they are becoming much more acceptable very quickly.
    7. Yes. I have NEVER seen a straight man with a "tramp stamp" (tat on lower back)
    8. All of the above. My *cough-cough* piercing is purley for the ladies pleasure, only thing I got out of it was weeks of pain.

    Male

23 Tattoos....Had my ear pierced back in 79, but has been long gone. Gastric Bypass if this counts as Cosmetic Surgery..

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.

I would say more women, but the men are catching up.

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

It's in the eye of the beholder!

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

IMO I believe that society is more acceptable of the men to have tattoos then the women only because the men are suppose to be "Masculine", while the women are suppose to be..... "Women". The piercings are probably about equal on the acceptability to society for a man or women. I personally believe that tattoos are generally more acceptable in the long run then is piercings of the body, other than the ear.

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

    Not by any means!

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

To me, my tattoos tell a story at different stages of my life and its easy to look at any one of my tattoo's and be able to remember exactly where and what I was at that time of my life.

    1. Are you a male or a female?

    female.

    2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery

Tattoos - right shoulder, left upper arm, right wrist, and right calf.

piercings - ears...5 on one side, 3 on the other...navel...and brow.

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.

    I think probably more women.

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.

    hmmm...if I am being honest...yes I do.

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

It depends on the mod. If it is piercings...I think it is more acceptable for women to have them than men. For tattoos...I think it is more acceptable for men.

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

I would say a guy having a lower back tattoo is kinda not cool. But as for the tattoos...I think it is fine for a female to have tattoos on her upper arms. Heck, I don't think mine looks manly at all. There really isn't a place on a female that I would say not to get a tattoo because it would look manly.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

    I like them.

and I kinda enjoy the pain a lil. :weirdface

Not necessarily. Makes them more INTERESTING but not attractive, per say

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

I think it is more acceptable for women to get surgery and piercings, but more acceptable for men to get tattoos, etc....

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

    1. Are you a male or a female? Male

    A & B

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.

who knows these days with all those men and their butt check implants! but seriously... my guess would be women because of implants and what 18 y/o girl doesnt have a tramp stamp.

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

I love when women have tattoos but it really depends on their personalities and whether the tattoo adds to their persona or if the tattoos ARE their persona.

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men. N/A

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

I would have to say it doesnt matter because the type of people who look down on people because they have a tattoo don't really care what the person's gender is but its hard to say theres so many ways to look at that question..

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

Ill go with what Pat said here.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

    I liked them

    1. Are you a male or a female?

    Female

    2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery

    Tattoos and Piercings

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.

With cosmetic surgery in the mix I believe women are in the lead..

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.

    Yes I do....is it a must?.of course not

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

Hmm I really think it depends on what body mod you are referring to rather than the sex. Something like implants (metal) / brands / and other forms of scarification will be looked upon differently than tattoos and piercings which are "common"

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

I adore body modification. So to me anyone can do whatever they please to their body. I have no right to say anything that is not mine.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.

Piercing for instance have a tribal meaning to me. For instance the tongue ring is a symbol to protect the body from evil spirits from entering.

The septum is a symbol tribes used to look "inhuman" or to look more fierce to enemy tribes.

Now what I said does not go for all tribes of course....just wanted to share those two.

Tattoos along with piercing have an art sense to me...certain things me certain things of course!

But the whole pain thing is a turn on though.......

    Hope this helped
