    5-6 years? I had a ferret that was 11, and several 8-9.

Regarding foods, Wysong is not the best but it is ok. You don't want corn products in the food, especially not combined with lots of rices and whatnot. You want a diet higher in meats than grains. Meat meals are ok and I prefer a diet that has some meat meal in it. One, maximum two sources of rice preferably not in the top 2 ingredients or at least more meat sources than grain sources like: Turkey, brown rice, chicken meal, turkey meal, chicken fat, pearled barley. Etc. All grains are fillers for a carnivore and filler means empty calories that are difficult to digest. To no or low grain sources is optimum for ferrets because they have a very very short digestive tract, their food goes through them within 3-5 hours of eating (usually 4 as adult) so they need to be able to get the most nutrition out of their food as possible. The time it takes to digest grains is longer than their digestion lasts.

Good idea to feed in a bathtub but for me its still just too messy, I do feed raw tidbits now and again but the fact that ferrets play in their cage and do occassionally land on their poo piles, which from raw food contains quite a bit of bacteria... I would have to disinfect their cage and their room at least once a day and I'd go crazy. I feed my dogs raw, but bacteria is not a concern because their digestive process is much longer and they don't come in contact with their excrement.

It isn't bad but it is more expensive and time consuming both in having to clean up the ferret, cage, bath tub and play area, and scheduling their feeding because they do need to eat more than once per day (every 5 hours max)

i do the raw diet thing too. turkey, chicken, pork, fish, cornish game hens. all boiled for at least 10 mins to kill bacteria. she only eats some of the wysong, shes more interseted in the meat but she eats it for the crunch i think. yea shes a lil pig eats anything and everything luckly for me though shes not to bad of a theif shes all about cell phones. but i neve take mine out of my pocket unless its on charge

An Amendment!! I am extremely confused right now. Regarding Diamond Naturals Kitten Food and other Diamond Naturals Formulas that I have recommended as a good quality food for either ferrets or cats. They seem to have changed their recipe. Some bags have different ingredients listed, some is the same as can be seen on the website and that I have purchased before with no corn or soy etc. I have now seen a few bags with corn and other by products listed. I do not know if they are overhauling their ingredients or put the wrong labels on the bags but READ THE LABELS before you buy! It is very common for food companies to randomly change their ingredients and they do not notify anyone when they do this so read the labels :)

I grew up with ferrets, my parents had a pair named Pebble & Pindle.
    They were fun!

Umm i now own one named Maxie.
WHo is my widdle baby! seriously, i treat him like ababy haha.

Anyway, theyre fun and good animals to keep!
they need a minimum of 4 hours outside their cage.
And need a standard diet of meat! or similar food.
    Since ferrets are carnvorous animals.
They eat meat, people often feed dead mice, baby chicks and stuff.
You can feed other meat such as chicken, pork and what not but make sure its boiled.
They can also eat kitten or cat biscuits.

My ferret gets his claws clipped fort nightly, and love to play!
my cats cant stand other cats, nor ferrets.
When we had pebble and pindle, my older cat tiger ran away for weeks!
And repeated this until the ferrets passed away.
Now, we have 2 cats both hate other cats and ferrets.
But my dog loves him! loves to play.

You better watch out tho! ferrets steal haha, my baby maxie steals my keys often and shuvs them under my bed its cute.
I know someone who has 4 ferrets, and all run around the house freely, the kitchen & bathroom and bedroom doors are shut.
but the living room and hallways and stairs are open for running around.
And they go to the litter tray often!
