My step-dad got braces when he was 32-35.
I had braces for 3 years from 11-14, then when I turned 18 I had to get a full mouth of veneers, so the braces were pretty much a huge waste of time! I had 30 hours of dental/oral work done that year, between veneers, wisdom teeth removal, and a tonsillectomy. I'm so glad I'm done!

Bleh...I'm going to have to get them.:zerb: I have two teeth that never had an adult teeth form under them, and they are breaking and chipping like it's going out of style. I guess baby teeth aren't supposed to last 21 years or so  So I have to get those removed, and they are far enough back that just taking them out apparently isn't much of an option. I had looked at the dental implants, but I figure if I'm going to get work done, I might as well fix it all....

When I talked to the orthodontist he said they would remove the broken teeth, two from the top aw well b/c there is so much crowding, and all four of my wisdom teeth in one pop....drugs anyone?:weirdface

Good luck with yours, hopefully everything will get straightened out this time (hehe no pun intended but it worked out well :P ) And I hope your mouth feels better soon!

Lol, I have 2 baby teeth too. Double set of fang teeth. My lateral incisors fell out, and there were no adult teeth formed, so my fang teeth moved over and dropped into their place.

When my adult fang teeth moved over, my baby fangs grew these huge roots. So it looks like my baby teeth are retractable fangs! LOL, that'd be pretty awesome if it was true!

Oh jeez Heather; take an Ibuprofen!!!
I had braces back in the day when the whole band was made out of shiny metal and it completely encircled each tooth. Then a heavy metal bracket to which heavy gauge wires were installed; and more wires. Had them on for four years and went to the ortho one time each month.
One of my kids is in braces and I am amazed at how far the technology has come!! Gone are the metal bands and now it's just a flimsy bracket stuck to the surface of the tooth!! Good grief!!!! And now people are in them for only 2 years!!!!
So, my dear, I am very sorry that your mouth hurts, BUT, I am very glad for you that you are having this done now- and not 35 years ago!

My mom got braces in her 50's! Don't feel bad

I have never had any tooth problems and have always had straight teeth... Then, my dentist told me I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed because they were all impacted and facing the wrong way. Mother Nature just can't seem to get our teeth right.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled a long time ago.

I had to be put under cause I had all of them taken out at the same time.

All I remember is waking up crying like a baby for no reason. The anesthesia was working weird on me, and I couldn't stop crying. Freaked my mother out!!!

But yeah... teeth are interesting things. :P Can't wait to get these things off though...

Good luck with yours. Went through years of braces and pain as a kid. So, I can relate to your pain.

My teeth were awesome for years after my braces. Then a few years ago my wisdom teeth were coming in a little under the other teeth in front of them. I told my dentist about it and he said "oh, they will be fine." Well, they hurt like h*** when coming in and pushed many of my nice straight teeth all over the place!!!!

I'm still not as bad off as I was before the braces but still...

So, don't feel bad that you aren't a kid. At least you won't have other teeth coming in later and ruining the work. ;)
