driving in snow!?

Evidently you arent a native of upstate New York. I have been where it snows all my life and think nothing of driving in snow. But I have seen Californians try it for the first time and that made me realize that its a learned skill.

Where I work is out in cornfield country. I guess where the road is by how far I am from telephone poles and mail boxes. Since they are on opposite sides of the road here. If I hang more to the mailbox side I'm probably in the middle of the road. What fun!!!The snow drifts so bad you have to be a good judge of where you are in the road. :banana::banana:

Another thing I remembered. If you are driving an automatic, particularly a two wheel drive automatic and it is very icy it can be helpful to put the car into neutral when trying to stop. If the brakes are applying equal forces on all four tires the ones that are powered will have a tendancy to keep spinning. By putting it in neutral this can be avoided. I'm sure in most cases this wouldn't even matter. Snow itself isn't even that slippery. It's the ice and hardpack that will get you.

I have lived in western ny all of my life. This is just my first winter driving; I started driving in the spring (yeah, I am a late bloomer at age 26, but finances and other things dictated that I was not ready to get a vehicle until this year.)
