    ARISE DEAD THREAD - ARISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok folks, which is the better choice for a 1st pet snake - the corn I bought 3 weeks ago (which behaves like a 3-year-old that wont listen or can't sit still) or a Western Hog?

I'm thinking that the awesome corn is just waaaaaaaaaaay to frisky, and won't improve much with age, meanwhile a Hog or BP might be the more sedate choice given that litle kids will be handling the snake soon.

    Thanks for the input!

A bp is definetly a good choice if you want a chilled snake.

A hoggie i think is goodd too just remember they are mildly venemous so make sure you watch a kid holding it till it knows if the snake bites not to let it chew.

Corn snakes often mellow out with age, and are more hardy than ball pythons-if you are going to have littlekids holding it, it will be more exciting...I don't know about hognose.

If it's not too late to add to this page 3 conversation, I had 2 adult ball pythons, 2 corns (1 hatchling, 1 subadult), and a 4 year old nephew.

9/10 I would not let him hold the corn snake. Hell, I lost the corn snake once. To this day I don't know how he got out of that enclosure. No worries, he came back.

While they do mellow out with age a little, they never become as placid as a ball.
