Re: New to site and to Having a BP
Btw, is he too skinny? I just read another thread about a Petco (same place we got ours) BP that was too thin.
We'll help him finish his shed tonight if need be (with help of great thread on bad sheds) and then feed - should we try live mouse (adult female) if we did F/T fuzzy mouse before and that is what they were doing at Petco?

I had to actually look back to remember when we got our first ball python, Rionnach. It was back in May of 2005 so really not that long in the greater scheme of things (seems like we've lived with snakes forever, I can't even think what life would be like without them anymore :) ).
All the snakes have their own individual enclosures. Some are single enclosures, others live in racks but every snake lives by itself.
Re: New to site and to Having a BP
Coming out of PetCo it's pretty expected that he'd be a tad triangular and a bit skinny. That will pass in time with good care and proper feeding (as long as he has no health issues of course).
If you have to soak him or use any of the help with bad shed tips tonight, personally I'd let him rest quietly and just offer food tomorrow night. These snakes stress fairly easily so he might not be in the mood to eat after being messed with to get the stuck shed off. If he's used to f/t you should probably stick with that for now. These snakes can be very big on routines and habits. They like what they know. He's still getting used to his new home with you folks so why mess with what works and maybe trigger a feeding refusal. You can always just move up a bit in prey size. Most any pet store stocks f/t prey mice in various sizes. Since he's been on fuzzies you could easily move him up to a hopper or even a small adult (recently weaned mouse) - that depends on his girth and size of course as far as what size is appropriate for him.
One of the handiest things to have really is a digital scale, either a kitchen one or a small postal one (department stores, office supply stores, etc.) Tracking weight and weight gains will really give you a handle on how the snake is doing.

That's no joke. Last time I helped my girl get her shed off, she "thanked" me by peeing and pooping all over me. Thanks sweetheart.

Is it possible to have only one BP?
Sure it is but just not for me  I have 17 of them as of now.

Boy girl, we did start out pretty close to the same time didn't we! Both of us with a single, pet ball python. How little we knew back then about our snakes and how this obsession would grow LOL. Still sharing the same brain though! :P
Remember when Rionnach and Kyna were named Baby and Punkin. Gawd how embarrassing to have them named that way! LOL
