I will never forget that day either. I couldn't stop crying that whole day really. My husband (then boyfriend) woke me up to tell me to watch the news since he was at work. I remember watching Peter Jennings (RIP) and Charlie Gibson on ABC all day (and for quite awhile afterwards), and it made me cry that much more to see Peter having to stop on air because he was crying as well. I still pray for all the families and friends of loved ones lost on that day, and still pray for the whole of the world because it affected just about everyone. I will never understand the violence of some people......

i still remember that day perfectly. i heard the phone ring around 5 or 6 A.M. and it was my dad that called the house telling my mom and she was like "WHAT!?!?!" and then she turned on the TV and woke me and my sisters up and when i saw on the tv what happened i was like...oh ok....(back then i didnt know the twin towers existed, weird i know, i never hear of things until something bad happens to them).then i got to school(i was in the 8th grade at the time) and my 1st period teacher had the tv turned on(for once) and was watching the news. then the principal made an announcement making a dedication to the people that lost their lives that day.

I live in jersey (20 mins from NYC) i'm 19 now and i was in 8th grade in my english class when the announcement came over the loudspeaker...a lot of my classmates and friends had family members who worked in or near the WTC...my teacher started crying and so did kids parents were picking their kids up, it was complete mayhem, i will never forget and i remember for the next few days whenever i drove to my dad's company i had a full view of NYC and the following weeks there was just a dark cloud of smoke lingering there...my dad saw the towers collapse from his office in jersey and he was supposed to be at the WTC 1 during the time of the attack but he got held up because a big order had been screwed up in the company, i thank God every day of things like that...deff one of the scariest moments in my life when whatever channel you turned to was the images of the WTC collapsing and at that time i didn't know where my dad was, even while writing this i shake just thinking about what could've happened. God Bless America and I will never forget what happened on that day. It's true how one moment can change your life forever in this case it changed not only one person but an entire nation.

my aunt works downtown and she saw the whole thing from her office. when i took a trip there last year with my grandparents, we stopped by the site, but she wouldn't come with us. i don't blame her. i'm just glad that she was safe. my heart goes out to those who have lost someone close to them because of 9/11.

I was raised in N.Y. and have many memories of being in the Twin Towers. I remember as a boy going there after they shot the King Kong movie and they left Kong outside of the towers for months so people could see him. Very cool for a 12 year old.

All the hate and violence is so unecessary.

A close friend of mine worked in those towers and had changed jobs months before. Although he survived but everyone he worked with in an office for over 20 years was lost. My heart was broken that day.

hate breeds hate and violence breeds violence, plain and simple.

i remember exactly where and what i was doing, everyone just stopped and gawked at a tv.. any tv, it bugs me how people have wrapped 9/11 and iraq into the same sentence, iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 so what's with the misappropriation?

I just remebered something I learned that day.

Although it only took a few evil people with hearts filled with hate to cause this tragedy. I learned there were alot more good people who would run into a burning building and risk and give their lives to help complete strangers.

It goes to show you there are alot more good people than bad, the only thing is the bad ones get all the headlines. There are 100's if not 1000's of stories of people reaching out and helping one another with beautiful unselfish acts of caring and compassion.

9/11 taught me there is more love than hate, unfortunately it takes a horrible tragedy for us to remember what is REALLY important.

God Bless the FDNY and the NYPD who rose above and beyond the call of duty and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

That is what I remember most and helps me to press foward. :sunny:

Exactly. 9/11 did not effect me as much as some other people, but I know just what it feels like to worry about those who had family members in the NYPD and NYFD. My dad is an OKCFD here in Oklahoma, and he helped with the Murrah Federal Building Bombing that had happened in OK 12 years ago, but on duty and off. My thoughts and prayers still go out to the rescue crews in 9/11, especally since many of them have had an increase in lung diseases and cancer problems.

:( Late finding this one but.....

I remember the day soooooo well. I understand even better when my mother's generation talks about "Where were U when Kennedy was shot?".

Thinking of the horror, and loss STILL brings tears. I was upset all day, and my POA-husband just DIDN'T get it!!

Our flag has flown every day since, we support financially (when we can), I sent care pkgs to my brother and neighbor when they were in Iraq....there's a flag on our car all the time.

Sadly, too many are forgetting the terror and sick feelings from that day. I think Darrell Worley had it right in his song when he said we should show the footage every day so we don't forget. (okay...so maybe EVERY day will anesthetize ppl to the horror) but we're forgetting the reason for the fight against terror!
