Those holes are a pain. First few comes out clean but gets the nasty buildup after. Plus it stinks.
Its a drill hole bit.....I got the 1/2 inch...but there is various of sizes...

I love the bit...Soldering iron is made to solder not to make holes. :P

    You'll love it.Trust me. :D

The soldering iron, IMHO, is so much easier. Sure it gets build up, if you let it sit in the hole for too long. I just take a wet paper towel and wipe it off. Works just fine.

Those little rinky dink $3 soldering irons don't solder worth a darn. I had to buy a $30 professional gun-type soldering iron just to do the flexwatt connections. I've bought 4-5 soldering irons just trying them out, and none will make nice connections or even get hot enough to melt solder(which is sad since it has such a low melting point, LOL). I think the brand I have is a Weller. The last one of my dads lasted for about 25 years, so hopefully this one will too.

Oh, and don't buy a Cold Heat soldering iron. Those things are HORRIBLE!

I use the portable one from radio shack. 20 bucks and butane powered. Gets hot in about 30 seconds. Tough too. I use it on my truck. Electronic stuff. Etc.... I always make sure to clean it off really well first though. Or maybe that's why I have 2 of em. 1 for electronics. 1 for the tubs.

And yeah sure with soldering irons there's a little build up. But I'd be afraid to crack a tub with a drill bit. I will definetley try to make em bigger with the iron first. Then a bit later if I have to.

It didnt crack on mines. Rubbermaid or the Sterilite tubs. Just push it in slightly, or fainty. It will do the job.

I just use a heated up old screw driver or drill bit to make holes in my tubs. I just let it sit over the flame on my stove for a minute or two till it's hot enough to melt the hard plastic.

Also with him he will try to soak in any kind of water bowl you give him. In the end he will have it spilled everywhere. I went though this with him almost daily. Can't tell you how many water bowls I tried with him in hopes he'd stop soaking and or just knocking the water bowls/cups over. It didn't happen. I ended up just spot cleaning his wet bedding every other day.

Tell you what I just did. I put his original 8 inch water dish in. Made the holes in the lid bigger. Big enough for him to soak in easily.

Tested it and humidity stayed steady at 60%. I need to bump it up to around 65. Ill keep testing it.

He does like to soak though!! He slides through his smaller water bowl trying to soak. Its cute. Haha

Well the humidity shot up to 73. Damn. It always seems to go up at night. The balls tub is rock solid. I must have just got lucky. Its got like 8 holes taped up though.

Ill just keep using the fan in the room. When I can get the chance ill make the other holes bigger.

I hate going through all the trouble. But I know he'll enjoy a bowl big enough to soak in.

My bad!! Holes in the lid are bigger. Around 3/8 to 1/2. Humidity steady around 65%.
Fed him today. Ate like a champ like always. And then went into his bigger water bowl and soaked. I was happy. I got the water level just right. He can fully submerge himself and not spill a drop.

    I wanna weigh him.
