A mistake LOL, I dont think it would have still been a mistake if no one noticed. He would have just sold it off.

Thanks everyone! It really made me feel better after reading your comments.

I received an email from this person at 9:27 (about 45 minutes after I posted this thread). He said "You haven't been duped. I didn't mean to offend you. I had second thoughts this morning and have since changed my mind. The ad is no longer up. You were a great person to deal with and like i said, i will be a returning customer. I hope i have not offended you as i do hope to have a continuing relationship with you in the future." I have to wonder how much of his reaction was based on the quick action/questions by my ball-pythons.net friends.

I am chaulking this one up as another learning experience. I refuse to let this alter the way I do business in the future. I love to work with ball python enthusists buy that first or second ball that they've fallen in love with and just have to have. I was momentarily p*&sed off, but you guys have helped me remember there are great people in this hobby! :blowkiss:

    Alice,

It is good karma on your part, no matter what he decides to do/not do. We need more people like you in this world, trust me ;)

I would try not to let this person be an example of the majority of people out there. Hopefully you will one day be able to do a favor for someone without being too apprehensive because of this.

There are many great people in this hobby and I am glad that this experience will not affect how you do business. I am sorry that this happened to you! I can understand about having second thoughts, but I would at least give it some time and see what the animal is like, and then if I decided that it wasn't the one for me, I would have at least spoken to you/the breeder about it. Some people...... Unfortunately it is people like him that can ruin it for others, and that is such a shame.

A mistake? Oh please...I may have been born...but it wasn't just yesterday! This person sells Alice a sob story to get a pied at a reduced price, receives it, unpacks it and posts it within hours for sale at a nice little profit. Sorry folks, that's a con in my books and one that was planned prior to the snake's arrival quite likely. Personally I wouldn't do business with this type of person. I don't need to be ripped off and I wouldn't want one of our snakes flipped like that so somebody can pocket some easy cash (let alone the worry if the snake will really be cared for if all it represents is just an easy buck for a scammer).

So something happened so drastic in this guy's life that within 24 hours (from when he could have let Alice know he didn't really want this snake and to stop the shipping to when he received the snake), that he felt he "must" sell it. Okay, so why didn't he immediately contact Alice and see if she wanted to buy her snake back? Why didn't he let the breeder know that either he was #1 so dissatisfied with this snake he wanted it sold immediately or #2 something happened and he needed to sell it so fast? We are talking hours here folks, not days or weeks.

Because he's a little scumbag that was trying to make quick cash by basically ripping off Alice is my best guess. I'm not giving any leeway to someone that does this to a decent person and to a snake that deserves a hell of a lot better care than being shipped and flipped! If that makes me a hardas$$ so be it...this is just wrong and Alice is very nice to not do a BOI thread anyways.

After talking with him a few times, he offered a reduced price and I agreed based on his circumstances and the potential that he would return in the future as a satisfied customer.

I shipped yesterday for arrival today. Not more than 1 hour after he picked up the pied from FedEx he had it listed on Kingsnake as a "Gorgeous '07 Female Pied" for hundreds more than he paid.

I know its business and I agreed to the sale, but boy do I feel used. Right now I feel like I should never give anyone a break in the future based on their "story". . .

Put him up on the BOI

I, for one, would like to know the guy's name. I want to ensure that I never buy from him or sell to him!
