They may be good to PAYING customers, but in the end, it boils down to money. They dont care about anything else but making money off of their animals.
I have nothing but great things to say about NERD and Kara, she is one of the sweetest person I met in this business, and it has nothing to do with the money you spend with them because I never did.
People covering husbandry with customers or someone picking up a snake is not arrogance, or looking down on you, it is good customer service, even though you are not a NERD customer I think it was great that Kara did covered the basis, she did not have to.
If Kara is mean and arrogant there is not telling what I am  !

Even if he didn't, I'll say it:
Thank you Kara for doing me a HUGE favor by transporting that animal for me. It saved dan some money and it saved me and the snake the stress of shipping.
You rock!

Re: NERD/ZooCreatures
I've never spent a penny on an animal from Nerd, but I have purchased Kevin's book. I also haven't had significant amounts of contact with Kara, but the one time I did ask her a few questions about the bloods and Borneo pythons, she was nothing but helpful to me, and went out of her way to e-mail me a really nice .pdf file comparing each species. At the time she came off as nothing less than a person with a sincere passion for the animals she keeps and also truly appreciates others who share that same passion.
I have never been to the show in Daytona, but even at the smaller shows I have been to, I try to be understanding that sometimes it is not the time or place for irrelevant chit chat. If the vender has the time, I'm sure they will shoot the wind with you. If not, just do it through e-mail some other time... it's really not that big of a deal, especially if it's just to pass the time. There's a lot of stuff that goes on before, during, and after a show, and sometimes there's not any extra time to pass.

Welcome to the site Donnie. It's too bad your first exposure to this place is in this type of thread but do stick around, most of our members have a lot more common sense about these matters. :)
Very lovely response Kara showing your usual good business sense, customer service skills and straight forward manner....good for you!
To the OP, don't ask about business if it isn't YOUR business. I'm a nobody in this BP world but my response if you asked me what I bought or sold a snake for would be the same...not...your...business!

I have to agree with Andrew on this one. How DID you speak to them?
I've known Kara personally for a little over a year now. I've never spent one dime with NERD or Zoo Creatures, so money has nothing to do with it.
Kara and Kevin both have been warm and inviting to me, both take time to answer my endless questions, and both invited me into their home for a week - and still, I've not spent a dime with them. And still I'm received warmly.
I know Kara well enough to say with confidence that she doesn't blow someone off unless she has a good reason to.
As far as the petstore knowing when the animals would be back - they probably didn't know and were busy when you called.
i was very polite on the phone and at the petstore. it's not like i was blowing anything out of proportion. whatever i stated in the post above happened. You guys were not there. Please don't think i'm blowing this out of proportion.

I've seen it quite often regarding giants atleast, when someone doesn't hear what they'd like to...
Maybe you took the situation the wrong way?...
no i didnt put up a 'know-it-all" front. i was more concerned with bringing my snake home safely, and i was not rude to them.

#2 - how much contact have you had with Kara and these two companies? Is this a long standing issue or are you basing this one what, two short contacts? During the biggest, most major show of the entire year you are upset that Kara didn't have time for you? That the store employee may have been less than patient due to their own pressures that day? I've never vended at a major snake show but really it's only common sense to understand that during this time major vendors will be under intense time constraints as they deal with the show and moving valuable living stock over large distances.
#3 why was NERD transporting your snake? Did you pay for this service since it was not a snake they sold to you? Was it done as a favor? Did you understand the timeline for arrival of your snake or just make a lot of assumptions?
It seems to me that making a statement like this..."They may be good to PAYING customers, but in the end, it boils down to money. They dont care about anything else but making money off of their animals." is a pretty broad statement based on what appears to be a couple of small incident that you've blown way out of proportion.
ok, they may be stressed about the show, but guess what? it's not my problem, i'm still a customer. and customer service is VERY important. Yes, the snake delivery was a favor, and i knew the timeline for when i would be able to pick up the snake. they were coming back from daytona on the 20th and 21st, and i was probably going to get her the 22nd, which i did. they transported the snake because donnie from PrimaReptilia didnt want to mail her out, as the daytime temps were too hot.
