I have enough spare tubs for one rack, enough extra water bowls for everyone and then some, and a couple of extra hides.

When I'm doing cleaning I like to have a clean tub to just place the snake right into. So I get a clean tub all ready, place the snake in that and then put him and the clean tub back into the rack. I do this for a whole rack and then I go and clean the tubs. This way I can clean them and let them dry with out having to worry about doing it quickly to get them back in.

Same thing with the water bowls. I just take out the old one and put in a new clean one once a week. Then I can go clean the old ones. I only keep a couple of extra hides to clean if they get soiled. I have a couple that insist on pooping all over their hide; but most poop away from it so I don't have to clean those very often.

But as for thermostats and thermometers, I don't keep extras of those.

    Yep...there is that!

Happened to me this year. :(

but I try to keep extra everything!

You just never know when it may be needed.

I even have extra fuses for my Helix!

Anything extra that I am sure I'll benefit from having I keep. I've gotten rid of a lot of extra aquariums and heat lamps over time because those aren't the kind of supplies I really like to use anymore.

I'm bad about getting and storing extras of everything. Especially when things are on sale. It has helped though. . . . when things go out (notice I didn't say "If" :) ) I can usually replace it without stressing about finding a new one.

Spares are great to buy if something is on sale. Let's say that water bowls are on sale.. it is much better to buy a bunch and have some extra waiting for new snakes; than to buy an individual one every time you get a new snake. :)

I've read through this thread and have now written up a shopping list for my cats, gliders, snakes, and lizard. I'm going to be stocking up on extra dry and wet food for the cats, drinking water, thermometers, BML supplies for the gliders, baby food for the gliders, water dishes for the snakes, and a travel cage for the gliders.

Would it be a good idea to get a tub for my corn snake and have it set up and ready to go if I need it. Do you use Flexwatt on tubs?

Yup, I've got tons of extras myself. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

if one of the tubs in one of my racks broke I would not be able to replace the tub immediately, but I'd be able to set up the current snake in another heated container (with hides, etc) very quickly. I don't think I have really have any permanent spare water bowls, but I can't order any just for extra right now.

I have several different types of forceps for feeding, some of which would only be used for new arrivals.
