I just had mine taken out this spring. Same deal all 4. Better to have them out before they cause issues or pain. I waited and waited to the point where I could feel them pushing against my other teeth. I was sorta nervous as I've never had surgery or even broken a bone in my life! They put me out and I don't remember much about that day and a little about the next LOL.

Oh I see you already got the "tug at the parent's heartstrings" act down VERY well LOL.

Just as well you are 14. The younger you are the less you have a tendency to bleed, you tend to clot faster and heal much faster than us "oldsters" so that works to your advantage. Besides which....it's worth it for all that pudding! :D

    Puddin for breakfast...
    Puddin for lunch....
    Puddin for dinner....

And lots of Verners gingerale. My American husband long ago informed me that apparently one cannot possibly come back from any illness without the guzzling of huge quantities of cold Verners!

I don't know how people can drink that Verners...my dad loves it and just the fizzle...from smelling it the first time (ya I know that's weird) made me gag! Something about it is just not right LOL!

I'm with you there Heath! I can't stand the smell or taste of Verners! What a way to ruin a good glass of icey gingerale!

I had to have a molar pulled, almost the same thing...And they said it wouldn't hurt, because I was getting a sedative(sp), but boy were they wrong...I couldn't feel most of the pain, but the pulling and preasure on your other teeth killed me. Ask for gas!! When I had surgurey for a tooth that wouldn't come in, that was under the one that they pulled, they used gas, and like Nate said, laying at home, with Vicoden and a chocolate frosty from Wendys.

    Good luck!

Share any stories you may have about wisdom teeth pulling, might as well hear all the things that can go wrong or how bad it will hurt :taz:

When I had mine done (all four at once and none erupted through the gum yet), I had an IV in and they put me under general anesthesia (they put me to sleep). So, I basically blacked out in the chair and woke up all woozy with a mouth full of gauze and the inside of my mouth tasting like rancid meat.

They gave me some Vicoden and I basically slept for a few days. The first day, you CANNOT spit or rinse your mouth really--and that was awful. The wounds ooze blood and you have to change the gauze, but the blood sitting in your mouth combined with no teeth brushing gives you rancid meat-breath and it tastes terrible. I couldn't spit but had to often hang over the sink with my mouth open and let the spit/blood ooze out of my mouth--charming, right? After that, it wasn't too bad--just a little tender inside the mouth.

One thing, though--my JAW was very tight-feeling and sore for a couple of WEEKS (yes, weeks) after the surgery. I never fully appreciated how many little intricate muscle systems work to move a jaw until I could FEEL every single one of them working :) So, chewing might be a bit awkward for a few days or a few weeks. I survived, though.

As a note, I was about 18 when I had it done. 14 does seem a little young, but if your dentist/dental surgeon thinks that you should, then you probably should.
