Re: A few photos
Whitesnake,
I am just feeding medium large rats. She has eaten every week and is a fairly early '06. She takes a couple rats a week.
Basuka,
Thanks, we really like our bee. He is turning out really clean and nice. We have had an offer from a pretty big breeder for him because of his looks, and that was pretty flattering as well. Thanks again for the nice comments.

Nice collection! That carpet is spectacular!:sunny:
What type of carpet python would you recommend for a new carpet keeper, that will stay 4-6ft. I was thinking possibly Irian Jaya/West Papuan for a little project. Any other recommendations?

They do stop around 1000 g usually, so I am sure these girls will slow down a little. It always seems they slow down just before they get to a reasonable breeding weight. We'll see how these girls do. I hope they continue on how they have been.
Thanks again, everyone.

Justin, I dont think my post came across how I wanted it to LOL.... I was saying that I too have '06s that size. Hell, I had an '06 CH that hit 1000g in December LOL
People online hear these weights and ages and say I have to be "power feeding"...people who know me in real life, and know what I feed my snakes, accuse me of underfeeding LOL
Rock on buddy, and good luck this year :)

Jason, Irian jayas are nice and stay smaller. I like them when they are small, but am not the biggest fan with the adult colors. I really like the het granite we have and he has some awesome lavender and other pattern elements that are very nice to look at. You really can't go wrong with a nice yellow and black jungle. They have great personality and are really nice to look at. They may get a little bigger than your 6' cutoff, but they are worth it. I think spotteds and childrens pythons are underrated and are very fun pythons with some great personality. Depending on your wallet, womas are also great, and are becoming increasingly affordable. I am just a huge fan of most pythons and would probably keep them all if I could.
Uncle F, I understood your post and it is mine that was probably confusing. That's the beauty of online forums. It's so much easier to be understood face to face or on the phone. I have had many a powerfeeding discussion over the years and many people think there is some magical growth rate and anything above that is powerfeeding and anything below is underfeeding. I also keep mine a little hotter than most, or at least give them access to hotter temps so they can choose and they grow like wildfire (until about 1000g) and do very well. People read too many care sheets or just get their info from other people instead of listening to their animals. I think we are on the same page, brother. Best of luck with your projects as well.

Thanks for the information Justin. I love the looks of the Centralian Pythons, as well as a black and yellow jungle, however are they going to be much more to handle than a BCI of the same size? I assume they are a bit more slender than a boa of the same length making for easier handling. Hmmm... I'll have to read up a bit more. I'll have to use you as a valuable resource in the future!

Re: A few photos
Jason,
Yeah, jungles are a lot more slender and small compared with a BCI, but centralians are pretty heavy bodied, similar to a BCI. Centralians are so calm and easy going, but are very hardy feeders and do very well in captivity. Jungles are a little high strung as babies and calm down as they mature. I guess I am getting a bit off topic, so shoot me a PM or email if you want to talk carpets more.
Later,
Justin
