Re: Where do You draw the line??
I don't have a limit. I just go by what I can afford to take care of both finacially and time-wise. Right now I am at a very low number for pets in my opinion, but I don't plan on getting any more for a few more months.
0.0.1 Snow Corn Snake
Other pets..
0.2 Cats
0.0.1 Long-Finned Black Skirt Tetra
0.0.1 Long-Finned Yellow Danio
0.0.1 Zebra Danio
0.0.1 Chinese Algae Eater
1.0 Crowntail Betta
So, 8 pets, and 5 of them are fish. I have room for another pet, but my grandmother has told me "No more."

Re: Where do You draw the line??
I'm definatley not content yet, but the rules of the house are now, "if one animal comes in, another goes out", so i have to give up one of the snakes if i want a new one, and thats definatley not expanding my collection. soo....this is my current list
1.0 normal BP
0.1 pied BP
1.0 Het. Pied BP
1.0 Colombian RTB
0.2 grey hooded rats
0.1 black hooded rat
0.0.6 fish
1.0 Horse, Jackson
0.1 Shih Tzu X Pug, Shimona
My future list(including the ones i have now)...i would like
BPs
1.1 Mojaves
1.1 Pastels
3.3 Pieds
1.4 het. pied
1.1 Patternless
1.7 normals
and i want a lucy, but, i honestly doubt that will happen. lol.
RTBs
1.0 normal
0.1 albino
0.1 Suriname
Corns...
1.1 snow
1.1 candy cane
more than that....i just am having a brain fart. lol.
wow. thats a lot of snakes. i have always been against racks, because i like making a pretty set up, bit i have a feeling in the next few years i'm going to have to give up on that theory. lol.
edit: i forgot about the other animals too. lol.
i want
0.1 17hh dapple grey Oldenburg
0.2 German Shepherds (one black, and one white)
0.1 Great Dane
0.5 cats (mainly for the barn. When you have a ton of grain around, it is hard to keep rats away from it)
0.3 Rats

Oldenburg horses are beautiful.. do you ride dressage or hunter/jumper Amy?
My wishlist is about 3 miles long.. mostly snakes, but I want to raise friesian and andalusian horses someday. :)

I do natural horseman ship actually, but when i get more advanced with a horse, i love jumping, so you could say that, but i'm definatley not your typical H/J. bareback and a rope halter for me, no silly saddles and bits. lol.
I love andalusions. Friesians are pretty, and have a cool gate, but i think they look too perfect, so i wouldnt want one. and, honestly, their gate drives me crazy. it is cool because it is diffrent from most/all other horses, but they are usually high and long strided in the trot, and really short in the canter. I like a big rocking horse canter.

Re: Where do You draw the line??
I do some natural horsemanship too.. but I don't think saddles and bits are silly. If you know how to use them properly you can have a great amount of communication with your horse.. but nothing wrong with just a halter.. (or not even that)
I used to do jumping.. it's fun but can be a bit nervewracking. Classical dressage is my favorite.
Also.. not all friesians have high action. The harness bred horses tend to have a very animated front leg, but the dressage bred horses tend to have a long flowing gait.
Sorry for hijacking the thread. :P

Re: Where do You draw the line??
Snakes:
1.1 100% het albino BP
0.7 normal BP
1.1 BCI
Soon to come is 1.0 pastel
Other pets:
2.1 mixed cats
0.1 yorkie poo
The cats and dog I keep with my girlfriend so I don't have to care for those alone. But my snakes are a different story
I do plan on adding a few more snakes within the next year but I hope I can curb my snake spending! I am going into my first breeding season next year and I am stocking on 500-700 g females to hopefully get to size by next year so I can have a few extra snakes to sell off or trade for other BP.

well. no, saddles and bits can help, i just prefer to ride without them. i am not up to brideless riding with my gelding yet, but with my old mare, we used to do almost nothing with a halter on. lead changes i usually had to use a halter, but that was about it.
i love jumping. The only time i've had it be nervewracking is when i was jumping bareback for the first time, i got a "you have to get over the fear" shpeal from my firend...so i ended up jumping a green horse over i think it was 4 ft. or 4 1/2. idk. whatever. the horse kicked up at the end. it sucked.
either way, friesians, are either 1. too prissy, and the ones that aren't are just too perfect. i would be so afraid to touch them. haha.

Re: Where do You draw the line??
Prissy? I think regal is a better word. They were war horses for heaven's sake. lol
Only horse I think 'prissy' when I see them are american saddlebreds.

Re: Where do You draw the line??
I have had the joy of riding two friesians in my life and both had canters to die for, I'd love to own one but since barrel racing is a big passion of mine and I just can't see them getting the times I must refrain.
Now, to be on topic.
I am nearing my space limit. I really want to leave myself enough room so if I see any girls(or boys) that I MUST HAVE, I can get them if funds allow.
Now that I have found a rodent supplier with reasonable prices that isn't an issue though I don't think I'll have the space to breed the amount of rats I'd need so I'm probably getting rid of them.
Other animals are cats and a betta with a new horse soon to be added to the list but that's not at this moment so...
