well i have no idea what the site was like before... but i can say that of all the forums i've ever visited this is by far the friendliest, most welcoming, informative place i've ever had the pleasure of being a member of.

so hats off to everyone... the old, the new... without all of us, this place would echo! *helllloooooo........ hello*

    :giggle:

and a special thanks to matt, judy and jeanne... as they are the glue which holds us all together ;)

of course the wonderful background colours are a welcomed change... as you mentioned it was beige EEK :P

and godfather... i never knew ya... but thanks for 'giving birth' to this place... i hope you are proud of how it's turned out https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../4/7/heart.gif

i started this website back in the day. if you remember it when it was a beige color and running off the content management system called postnuke. i passed the site off to smulkin in order to go full on into a new project: a herp super site with a friend. i got bored and decided to abandon being a webmaster completely and the site we created went to hell despite it's promissing future. i put a ton off work into this site in order to get it some exposure and take it from originally just being a ball python forum to a recognized name in the herpnet. the site still seems to be getting about the same ammount of hits since i left. which means it at that point was self sustaining just like i hoped. my only regret is that smulkin didn't decide to stick with postnuke, the newer versions of it have made the possibilities endless, and i also put a lot of work into attracting attention from search engine hits by changing the addresses from php to html. but over all its been in damn good hands.

since i left i've been up to a lot. i'm currently on leave from my training in the national guard. still got my 2 bps and a bci.

Well, I honostly can't say I was a member of the forum back when you were running it...I will say that it seems to have come a long way. I would like to personally thank you for starting this website and playing a big role in what it is today. It's good to hear you still have your ball pythons and your boa though... Maybe you could post up some recent pictures of them in the pictures section? Well I don't know what else to really say but that I appreciate you taking the initiative to start an online forum dedicated to ball pythons! thanks again man!

this site owes that man more than anyone can realize. couldn't have done it without him, then he went awol on me.

Are you talking about RPlank? I often wondered where he went myself; his photo of his BCI was actually what inspired me to get my BCI; the pic where you can see its face pointing downward, just the head.. he was cool; wonder where he and the other oldtimers went..

i'm not dissapointed with the site guys, please don't read into things too much. all that matters is that the close knit atmosphere thats open to all who want to join managed to stay intact. had this place turned into some of the other forums i used to visit, then i'd be dissapointed. i may have been gone, but from time to time i'd still check up on the place.

postnuke is an amazing cms, damn near limitless at this point. it takes a ton of time, but someone with enough will power could have created a different type of herp site that would have been untouchable. before i got bored with the other site, things were in the works with a friend who could code php modules for us. unique only to the site, would have completely stepped up the game. i created the site because bp.net was very very successful but i felt it's potential for growth as an all over herp site was limited because it was mostly for ball pythons even though i had tried to give it some variety. in order to go full on into the project i knew i had to hand it off. my plan was for randy and smulkin to run it together. randy was awol and smulkin and i talked enough so that i had no doubt in my mind that the site would be in good hands and that it would keep evolving. two years later, i see i was right. im very proud of this site. obviously i expected things to differ from how i managed it. when i ran it i got in a lot of hot water because i was too damn nice and people took advantage of it. all the old mods/admins can tell you, lol.

i abandoned the other site because of differences in how it should be managed, plus i just wanted to have the time for the outside world and being a webmaster at the same time is rough. had we stuck with it, kept up with the capabilities of postnuke (we would have been WAY ahead of the curb) the other site probably would be one of the biggest on the herpnet. it wasn't have as homely as bp.net. the atmosphere i managed to create here, which thank god and smulkin that it hasn't changed, is something you will not find elsewhere. trust me on that. also, i recognize that a whole ton of work must have been put in to switch cms's. i'm impressed.

i'm very proud of this site guys, proud to have played a role in this site, i'll enjoy watching it grow through the years. it's good to know that all the work and drama i went through to kick it off wasn't for nothing.

hats off to the admin council (if there still is one)

Truer words were never typed. :)
Kudos to the current mods for doing such a great job. Flamers and antagonists are not tolerated, while we also respect and accept each other's differences eventually.
