There are 22 of us online right now. 12 members and 10 guests.

I opened presents at dad's house this morning. Watched a tiny bit of mythbusters and some of A Christmas Story early on. I ended up watching the Top Chef marathon with my dad on the bravo network and The Scorpion King before I headed home.

Unforunately my stepmother picked up a rotten cold and stayed in bed all day after christmas dinner (which was at 12).

I discovered in the last two days that my sense of taste is practically nil. I've been able to eat just about everything with minimal pain medicine, so I'm pretty happy about that. My relatives were talking about how good the terikayi wings were and I couldn't taste it at all (same with Christmas dinner and a lot of other things). I think it has to do with the fact that they also removed an adenoid when they took my tonsils out. Hopefully my sense of taste will return when my mouth/throat finally heals.

Aleesha, was your son as excited as you had hoped, when he saw his guitar? I remember you saying he had no idea thats what you were getting him...

    chris,

funny enough... his sister and her boyfriend were over the day before, exchanging gifts... and they wrapped up a W ii for him... (ninetendo's new gaming system) = well he almost fell off his chair when he was unwrapping it! turned out... it was a joke. they got the box from my daughter's work and put old towels in it.

so when he unwrapped his amp for his electric guitar (which was on my bed and he knew nothing about) he thought it was a base for his stereo... but he thought, "mom wouldn't want to hear MORE base???" so then he kept looking at it and as the thought crossed his mind "this is an elec guitar amp" his face lit up and his mouth was wide open... he stared at me, not moving... and i said, "it's on my bed".

hahahaha he was out of the room like a flash, his little sister following close on his heels and he jumped on my bed... searching for his guitar (which was under a blanket) [had i known he would jump on the bed, i never would have put it there, it's lucky he didn't jump on it!] - well he found it and could barely walk... he was turning in circles like he was a kitten chasing it's tail LOL

he brought it into the living room... with him mouth still wide open LOL and he just started saying, "i love you mom i love you mom i love you mom" LOL

then he sat in the hallway, playing.... what do you think? 'smoke on the water' LOL over and over again. hahahahahahaha

he played till his fingers hurt... then he came back into the living room and said he was glad i saved that present till last cause he had absolutely no interest in opening anything else. :D

all day long... the sound of music would rise out of the basement... and then fade again... and then an hour later... more music. he would have to stop to rest his sore fingers and then he'd start up again :D

he absolutely loves it. he loves the colour, he loves the way it feels in his hands... he loves how easy it is to play compared to his other guitar as his hands are still small...

and he loves his mama!!! https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../4/7/heart.gif

he did keep asking "this is real though, right mom... it's not another joke?"

i guess last year his sister and her boyfriend put his gift into a cell phone box and so he thought he was getting a cell phone. so he'll be prepared for next year!

so here's a few pics of him. the first one is as he takes it out of the case and sees it for the first time!

    now he's playing it...

and... the new kid in the hall (as i was calling him)

Thats awesome! This was the first year my oldest daughter was old enough to really have a grasp of what was going on, and who Santa is and all that. This was the first year I actually felt good about all the money I spent instead of being bitter about it, it was like her face was lit up for 2 days straight LOL worth every penny :D

i disagree... i don't think it's greedy at all... as being greedy is the desire to NOT share something... but when we give - we gift to ourselves and them at the same time, thus doubling the gift. https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil.../4/7/heart.gif and then, by chance and situation... we can sometimes even gift some of that excitement, love and light to others around us... thereby tripling, quadrupling etc our gift. to me... that's the far opposite of greed.

Its a Buddhist saying and is sort of a joke. Of coarse its not greedy, but makes the point that giving makes you feel so good!
