lol... I crashed a tractor into a snowplow.. in the middle of summer.. didn't know that you, uh, have to put it into neutral, and brakes don't work in gear.. LOL.
I almost ran Mark over with the stick-shift Ford we had.. sorry but my mind says that if I hit the brake, it shouldn't start, it should stop...

Sometimes the truth will set you free, other times well...
You shouldn't worry about it. If they are not comfortable with their weight that is their problem. I know a bunch of over-weight people that are just fine with their weight -- they even joke about it themselves.

We were at my brother's house and his wife had made a really nice big homemade pizza for dinner. She'd just pulled it out of the oven and the kids were clammoring for food. And I say, ......

   I swear, the kids literally fell on the floor laughing and did not stop the rest of the night. For days, they kept throwing that back at me...and even know, a good 2 years later, they still get a tremendous kick out of reminding me...

Re: stupid thing you did
Okay this one is awful, I still blush about it to this day and this is exactly how it happened...I wish I was embellishing the truth...gah!
I was the only female working in a small, privately owned fish hatchery. I was on duty alone, dressed in my ever so fetching rubber boots, grimey fish smelling clothes and my mass of hair in a messy ponytail (probably had fish scales in it too come to think of it). Oh and I'm barely over 5 feet tall. We had been out in the streams all day collecting wild rainbow trout (we hatched them and they live wild until they return to their release point years later). We had a ton of eggs but for some reason we were horribly short on milt (the male "product"). When my boss left he said sadly that we were likely going to lose those precious eggs because we coudn't get them fertilized quick enough.
Well I look outside the hatchery and there's two guys fishing off the nearby dock. I get this BRILLIANT idea!!! Off I trot, rubber boots on the fly down the dock. There I stand, big hopeful smile on my face (reeking slightly of eau deu trout) and ask these two total strangers the following question....
"If you guys get lucky today can I have the sperm?"
ARRRRRRGH!!!!!
They sort of froze, blinked and I suddenly realized that not everyone spends their day up to the elbows in fish egg and milt (sperm) and they might maybe not get that I wanted a chance to milk their catch and hope the fish were males staging outside the restricted breeding streams.
Needless to say a split second later I realized how it sounded, turned and raced as fast as my little booted feet could get me back into the hatchery, as red faced as I've ever been! My boss nearly peed himself laughing when I told him what I'd done.
P.S. We did get enough milt later that day and saved most of the eggs...but that's another potentially embarrassing fish hatchery story. It's no wonder my mother didn't want to tell her lady friends what her youngest daughter did for a living back then! LOL

Re: stupid thing you did
...and here's the rest of the story.....
Later that day, after my boss got done laughing at me...he suggested I phone another private hatchery elsewhere on Manitoulin Island to see if they could help with our excess and soon to die eggs.
So I call the other hatchery across the Island to see if I can "borrow a cup of milt". Well as luck would have it they had spare having netted more males than females that day so off I go. The clock is ticking...I've eggs going bad here folks! I grab a beer cooler, some ice and packing material, grab the keys to the truck and head out like a bat out of hell across the Island!
Get my baggies full of milt, tuck em all up nicely in the beer cooler and hit the road for home....yes I was speeding...for heaven's sakes I'm on a mission here to make some baby Rainbows! Then as I'm tooling along I suddenly look over. There I am breaking the speed limit with a darned beer cooler sitting right beside me! I'm a bored island cops dream stop!!!
"yes officer I know I was speeding...yes officer that is a beer cooler beside me....no officer I haven't been drinking nor do I have liquor readily accessible to the driver....well yes it is technically a beer cooler...but no it doesn't actually have beer in it...what's that milky white substance in those ziploc baggies....well officer you probably won't believe me when I tell you...."
All this went through my mind as I broke a few more speeding laws. Worth it though when we got a reasonable hatch out of those eggs. :)

Oh and if you ever get to Manitoulin Island in Canada and you should, amazing place to vacation and the fishing is to die for, go visit the Gore Bay Fish and Game Club Hatchery in Gore Bay on the Island. It's open to the public, free though there is a donation box. It has a great reputation for putting out some lovely Rainbow Trout and Chinook Salmon to help support the local sport fishing industry. It's run and staffed by volunteers (and a few paid employees when they can get some grant money) and they truly have a love for what they do! I am so proud of the few months I spent with them learning about fish reproduction/raising and knowing that the babies (and their offspring) I helped produce are still out there to this day.
