My wife went shopping with a friend (all day!!), leaving me with our 3 kids. I took them to a local pet store and bought 1000 crickets for our Bearded Dragons. Dropped the crickets off at home and went to Home Depot. No lines, no waiting!!!! Then I took the little urchins to lunch. Our last stop was to Petco to laugh at their ridiculous prices. We're going to the White Plains NY Herp show on Sunday to get a Brazilian Rainbow Boa (my Christmas present) and some supplies. It's nice to know how much you're saving and how much Petco is screwing people!!!

Last year I got up at 4:30am to get to Wal-Mart before 5am to buy a digital camera (5am-11am sale) for my wife ($199). I stood in line for 50 minutes and almost got involved in a brawl for a laptop. We went to Wal-Mart at 5pm and I saw the camera still at the same price. Two weeks later they're STILL selling it at the same price!! 4 months later it's obsolete and they're selling it for $137!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!

I'll never get sucked in to one of those Black Friday sales again!!

I had been thinking about maybe hitting one of the office supply stores just to see the deals or do some online shopping, but that never happened.

I ended up buying toothpaste, shampoo and my prescriptions on black friday :P

I can tell you I feel a thousand times better now that they lanced the abscess.

Love antique shopping, so we hit the thrift stores looking for hidden treasures, Found a beautiful old chalk lady and a borzoi, not the run of the mill, but a very rare find just sitting there.:D This is the same one I passed on ,on e-bay for 50 dollars. She's in great shape and only 3 dollars!! A couple of other treasures.

We never go to the mall in search of new things on black friday. No matter how big the sale, my sanity is worth more. Just too many people.

Being that this was my first Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S., I wanted to experience Black Friday - just a bit. I went to Sears at 5:00 am. when it opened. Got a great deal on 2 pairs of boots (one 75% off because it was mistagged and one for 50% off) and a winter coat for 60% off - stuff I really needed. I was back home by 6:15 before it got insane.

My finace went and cashed his paycheck and then went and bought him a ps2(I know ancient now lol) and then came home to pick me and the kids up. It was 10:30am and we figured all the sales would be ending so we headed to Walmart for basic stuff and I will never do that again. Pushing a double stroller is bad enough but add in everyone and their mother leaving carts and walking away or cutting in front with out a warning is insane. Never again.

He also was having too much fun tell the kids to 'pull his finger' and to tell me to get in the kitchen and make them some pie. Paybacks are going to be hell. :evileye:

    Interesting factoid:

The first use of the term "Black Friday" was actually implying that the stress (and chaotic atmosphere) was the equivalent to the Black Tuesday, which was the stock market crash in the 20s.

It has only later that the Black was attributed to the financial aspect of the day, which was used to infer the first day of the year that businesses start making money.

And I start my shopping on Cyber Monday (the Monday following Black Friday) when the online retailers start their holiday specials. I'm not going to fistfight for a Gameboy Micro at Walmart at 5:00am.
