Haha.. yeah roller coaster ride of doom.
Re: I feel like an idiot..
Ooh that reminds me I have another stupid story.. this one is even better!
Yeah.. so I have this REALLY cute rex blaze granitey looking female rat.. yeah, cool future breeder.
Mind you this was feeding night for the snakes.. I had finished feeding them and had come back to care for the rats. So.. I take the cute rat out and set her in the big plastic container I use for my gassing chamber.. (it's what I used to put my rats in as a holding bin when I cleaned their cages before mr vacuum rat eater came along) I didn't even THINK that is could possibly still have some Co2 in it from the feeding earlier that evening.. but yep it did.. yet another super cute future breeder bites the dust.

The shop vac I use is definitely strong enough to suck up any rat that will fit, and hard!.
Re: I feel like an idiot..
Oh yes I've vacuumed other rats before (when I'm actually cleaning the cages). The big ones (adult males get vacuumed even) don't seem phased by it.
It will kill most mice and if it's empty any rat smaller than a 'small rat'.
Re: I feel like an idiot..
Hmm I wonder as well if this stuff would be a natural aide in making sure your rodents don't have any little buggie friends on board. We used to by a DE based natural powder for our one Lab to keep her flea free, She had been bred in the Canadian Yukon where dog fleas do not exist so had no natural ability to handle fleas and would go nuts if even one got on her and was allergic to most flea treatments. The DE stuff really worked quite well.
