PLUS i was wondering if the kids wanted to touch him if hand sanitizer on the kids would be to strong for the snake, because i was going to make them use it before and after touching it. or would just washing thier hands do. one thing i was going to do is have them come up with a name for her. my son being 6 can't think of a COOL name so i was going to have them vote on it with my son having final veto power:salute:. i was thinking maybe pictures, diagrams of the inside organs( don't no whwere to find this) stuff like this. any ideas?
I have taken Nag and Nagaine both to my kids classrooms. they LOVE it, but prepare for the kids to want to be hands on...they really want to hold the snakes. I found its harder for an adult too keep an open mind about snakes than it is for most adults.
I would just go over some basic snake trivia (ie where they come from, how big they get, how/what they eat and how often). then some basic safety stuff (ie NEVER touch a snake if you see it outside, venomous vs nonvenomous, etc)
I find that if I just open things up for questions, the kids will ask you about everything you forgot to mention in your instruction period. lol
most of all, let them touch it if you can, and show them that snakes arent all slimey and nasty. that seems to go over well for the final part of the presentation.
I would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about the school thing...just let me know.
hope it goes real well for you...I hope you enjoy it as well.

You might also get lucky enough to recieve a nickname afterwards!
And dont worry about the kids hating it, theyre all going to love it! :D[/QUOTE]
I have acquired the name of "Snake Lady". I cant get to the front door of the building without the recess kids accosting me and saying "It's the snake lady" over and over again.
all in all I love being able to teach the kids a little bit about wildlife and conservation, and proper care of captive wild animals.

I'm also "The Snake Lady" to the little kids. The first time I was ever called that a little first grader came up to me one time when I was picking up my brother and sister from school and said "I know you! Your the snake lady!" So thats how I got my nickname.
