Done some thinking about the flewatt and i came up with the idea below. I'm 99% certain it will maintain the temps with any ambient temp(within reason lol), my averages around 70 degrees.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...2/Flexwatt.JPG

There would be a total of 9ft of 3 inch flexwatt per shelf, 6ft on the hot side (60w) and 3ft on the cool (30w). Its basically 50ft of flexwatt, which costs $140 (£75) inc shipping.

It also means the warm side thermostat would have a 300watt load and the cool side 150watts, when the rack is full which probably won't be for a couple of years.

    What do you think?
Anyone else please buzz in and comment! :D

    Hey dude,

Managed to get a reply from the makers of flexwatt :)

They do make 220 volt versions but not in the 3" - smallest was 4".

Also the rolls they sent me the price list for are 500 foot long and cost $1250 **thunk**

But after a little negotiating they will sell prefab strips of 2 foot by 11 inches for $14.25 + shipping - dont know how this works out yet as I'm still not sure it would be enough.

The lady said it can maintain 25 degrees farenhiet (nope can't spell) above ambient and possibly slightly more with a thermostat (makes no sense to me that sentence but it's what she said).

Hows your lil wriggler settling into her new home?

    Hi,
She's settled really well, i don't know if she even realised she moved. She shed after being it for 2 days and then it was feeding day the next day and she promptly slamed a rat into the floor and ate lol.
I just got 2 more females i had on order for a couple of weeks, i havn't tried to feed them yet, but hopefully all will go well.
I ordered my flexwatt on sunday, hopefully it wil be here in a couple of weeks time. I don't have any more UTH's now so i can't get anymore snakes till it does :-(.
Hows your new additions to the family?

    Making me all stressed :D

Virtually every bit of equipment I had planned on using turns out to be either missing or goosed

So far I've discovered all my small hides have gone walkabout so am using cardboard tube, learned that tall plastic tanks don't do well in short viv's with ceramic heating - it deformed all the lids. Thankfully I discovered this before the snakes went anywhere near the thing but I can't help wishing they'd stuck to the planned hatching date :P

And much like babies everywhere they look wierd :P I'm quite curious to see wht colours they end up 'cos it's bizzare just now - and the hidden messages could make an old hippy quite paranoid :) .

    there are some pics in this thread;
