I actually just realized we posted a picture of basically the same thing, within a day of each other...yet neither one of us knew we were doing it to begin with.lol..
The effect is actually quite simple. you need 3 things: a good digital camera, a tripod to put it on, and yes, Photoshop.
You simply set your camera up on the tripod, and DO NOT touch it...move yourself/your snake/whatever around, and snap as many pictures as you want. You import your images into Photoshop and drag them all into one file right on top of each other...and you go to each layer and erase around them till you are satisfied with results....now there is a great deal more work involved than that, but that's a brief rundown of how it's done.

Nathanledet is correct. Just move your snake and snap the picture. As long as the camera doesn't move, and the light doesn't change in the room, you shouldn't have to do that much work with the pictures other then lining them up.
Its a really cool effect, and easy to do.
