really??? they how the @#$% am I going to know if I have a female? I heard that there are times that a "female" is locked by a male but nothing comes out of it.

I guess the only way to know is to spend the $500 to get a proven female that has laied eggs befor huh..... :(

so here is another question.... some breeders sell female Ball Pythons that have not laied eggs for the typical female price. how do they know for 100% that the snake they just sold is infact female? wouldnt that be in a way lieing? or ripping off the customer? with out a 100% breeding that ended up with eggs and babies at the end how can they really know for sure? to me it would seem more like a guess then proof.

now i dont know what to believe....

All I can say is to buy from someone you trust. I bought a female from Adam, (too young to have had any eggs...she's an '05) and I have NO DOUBT that she's a "she." And IF on the utterly freaky chance he was mistaken, I have no doubt that he would make good on the deal by giving me another female of the same age. It pays to work with someone who's not only very skilled at what they do, but will always be there to back up their deals.

by probing and popping! once you learn to probe, it's not that hard to tell a male from a female. nothing is perfect with no room for error. just because they are female also doesn't mean they will breed, ovulate and lay good eggs either. breeding balls will humble you and teach you patience.

I asked the woman how she found out that Pandora was a female. was she told or what? She told me that when her and her husband bought her it was for the sole idea in breeding her. she was probed at the show and then a male was probed to show the difference. She said that she picked Pandora out of a small group of "poped" females
and then was probed for her for "proof."
That was what she told me.

I guess the proof will be in the pudding if she ever gives me a clutch LOL.
