I mean even at the glass it was nippy! I know young snakes typically are but geez! I ended up taking it back for a ball python but they were out so I got my money back....

Yeah, I'm all set with the childrens pythons...but They are beautiful snakes tho

Almost ALL juvies are snappy. I stopped the AGA critter cages with them because they would crawl up under the lip and when I slid it out would nail me everytime!
Out of the 2 clutches last year (15 babies) only 2 were mellow from the get go. The others (especially one male red phase) loved to bite.
They are very defensive snakes and until they get used to being handled (it takes some time) will strike at anything.
I consider my adults to be kid friendly. Meaning kids can hold them without me worrying about a bite. I also have a BP that I wouldn't let kids handle.

Sounds like you got one that needed some work and the petstore isn't going to take the time to get it accustomed to handling.

Yea it was a real loss when the one died.To make things even crazier i have no clue on the sexes of the two i have.I had a freind probe them and he said they were both females. Then i talk to Steve(spj) and another freind and they both said you can not really tell the sexs until they are around 6 months old.So i either have 2 boys or 2 girls as the shapes of the tails from the vent back are both the same shape.I will be nice and make no comments on the dancing part
