Removing the cooling stuff from the back will substancially reduce the weight of the incubator. Doing that will require you to remove the freon, unless you're cool with it leaking out and mutating your firstborn children....

It all made sense when I found out that Glass grew up in a house underneath a row of power lines...

I incubated my first clutch of BP eggs in a hovabator-type incubator. The temps never fluctuated more than 1 degree, and they did just fine. That being said, a custom incubator with a proportional T-stat and a small fan is going to be MUCH more reliable. I would suggest spending the money (150-200 dollars)on building a reliable one over taking your chances with a hovabator.

use a lineman's pliers or bolt cutters and cut the lines!
warning get away quick, very quickly!!
just make a small slit or cut and let it leak out slowly, do this in a well ventilated place or outdoors. and don't breathe the vapors!!!
do this at your own risk and if you are not confident, don't do it.
