Mites? Arghh! Is there any sort of consensus?

if you are getting all this good feedback provent a mite, get it. i am using reptile relief because that was all that was available here. i am treating the snake and the tank and then soaking it in bath water the next day for about 10 mins and it has now been 4 days since the first day of mite treatment and i am still finding a few here and there

I had a mite problem with a red-tail boa i use to have(got too big and made my landlord uncomfortable).but i tried sprays and other mite be gone remedies and they kept coming back.i met a vet in maryland that said "to get rid of mites soak your snake in a tub of water for 1 hour a day, mites can't breathe in water and they will float to the surface". they did.he said "to clean the tank with a 2% bleach water solution(fill the tank, mites can't breathe in water and don't like bleach)and keep the snake from the tank till the mites are gone".i did this for about a week and never had the problem again.i didn't need powders and sprays. just water, and a little bleach to clean the tank.he told me most vets will say the snake needs shots and chemical soakings just to get business. a little comon sense and a week cured my snake with no repercussions.:)

Reptile Releif is that fruity smelling junk.
You're basically wasting your time and money with that.

Soak the snake, replace all of the substrate, spray the enclosure with PAM, and the mites will be gone before you know it.

I just ordered PAM; used RRelief and it did just that; it provided temporary relief and the mites returned.... grrrr!
I plan on using white paper-towels as substrate until this whole thing is cleared up.
