No, not criticism...call it a pre-emptive strike. You have no idea how many people I run into in a year who get a blood or short-tail, screw the snake up because they didn't research everything at first, and then want someone to bail them out. I keep a lot of bloods & STPs and am VERY passionate about them. If that means helping folks avoid mistakes in the first place, then so be it. I'd rather be wrong about my first impression of your buddy's questions than right about them. :rolleyes:

Nice to hear you know ball pythons top to bottom. Funny...I know a guy who's been keeping balls longer than you've been alive, and while I'd say he knows them top-to-bottom, I don't even think he'd definitively make that statement.

ok if i'm going to buy a snake i'm going to make sure beforehand to no about it as much as possible i've owned a blood in the past notice 1 blood as i said before i just wanted help from one herp lover to anouther to make sure IF i buy the snake that it will live a happy life

Ok...in that light, and in a VERY LITTLE NUTSHELL, here are some very basic basics:

Borneos (Python breitensteini) still get big. I have some girls that are easily in the 5' range. Minimum 48" x 30" cage space for something this size. Height isn't as important, as long as you can comfortably work the snake. Smaller snakes = smaller cages. Baby STP big enclosure = freaked out snake.

Feeding - SMALL MEALS!!! Do not make your Borneos fat. Fat snakes are not healthy snakes. Again, my biggest still only eat medium rats a couple of times a MONTH.

Humidity - 60% range is good. Dry sheds tell you you need to bump it up a bit. Cages should not be soggy, either, unless you WANT your snake to melt.

Heat - keep it on the cool side, but not TOO cool...88-90 hot side, but never below 75 on the cool side, unless you want to invite resp. issues. If that's your way to spend a fun evening, have at it. If not, pay close attention to your snake's environment.

Cheap...ugh...be careful of captive hatched babies...and also keep in mind that temperament with most pythons is largely genetic. If you want friendly bloods/STP's, get babies from a breeder who knows their adults & what kind of offspring they throw. You can't stick a price tag on good personality.
