I have a solid wood top and have never had to worry about humidity. I have a water dish on the cooler side and that does the trick. It is hard to keep humidity in a tank when the top lets everything out. When she is obviously in shed I put a second very small water dish in the middle and it ups the humidity within 10 minutes to where it needs to be. I love my solid top cause the humidity isn't a problem.

ok, I have another dumb question. I keep seeing a lot of acronyms in here and dont have much of a clue as to what they mean. You all have some kind of web site I can visit to find out what I'm missing?

Yeah, I need to set up a rubbermaid setup so I can get my humidity up. I can get 65% humidity with an open top, but thats about it.
