Looking forward to your continuing review of these new racks on the market over the coming weeks/months. Sounds like you got wonderful customer service and the shipping costs for a racks of that size seem very reasonable.

Thanks Jo! I just woke up but hopefully I'll get the snake room ripped apart this morning and get the rack in place. I also purchased a warm air humidifier from Walmart yesterday to solve that issue. ARS is definitely a vendor in Chicago and he also does the Indiana shows. Nice chance for people to avoid the shipping costs!

Jamie, any suggestions on how you MIGHT be able to keep the humidity up WITHOUT the room humidifier???

I'm susceptible to pneumonia and can't have the room humid, but I'm liking that particular setup more and more....Hmmmmm... empty tubs = more snakes. :D :D :D

My tanks have that same Accu-Rite set up...unit on one side, probe on the other to monitor the two temps and the humidity within the tank, or digital therm/hygrometer combos.

With yours and others' experience I was just wondering how U might keep the humidity up in the rack.

Thanks soooo much for taking the time to help this newbie. :)

I am sure others have ideas as well but there are a couple things you can do.

    1. Use a substrate that holds humidity well. Cypress, coconut husks (not sure what brand these are sold under now). When you have a couple snakes, its not a problem to use one of these. But once you have more than a few, newspaper or kraft paper becomes your best bet. Easy to throw out and replace when fouled.

    2. Mist the enclosure at regular intervals

    3. Keep a water bowl on the hot side.

There's always room for more snakes! :)

Well, the rack is in place and working well! It heated up just fine and it is getting 93 on the hot spot directly on the tub floor and holding. I had to set my tstat to about 100 since there is a slight gap between the heat and the tub. Here is the final picture. All inhabitants are doing well!

Are those are the clear tubs? If so, can you see anything through them? I can't tell by the pic.

They are semi clear. You cant see much through them though. Compare them to the ones to the left on the wood shelf. Those are crystal clear.

Jamie, It's been just over one year since you received your rack. How is it holding up? Are you still satisfied with the rack?

I just e-mailed Brian with a question and received a response in about 4 minutes. Customer service seems excellent so far :D

The rack is great. It is in perfect shape like the day I got it. Due to space concerns I have started to move towards plastic rack systems. I think you will be thrilled with the product though!
