Re: Throwing the glass AWAY!
Anyone know of a really big tub I can use to house my adult female and that comes with wheels or something to keep it elevated off the ground?
It should be big enough for the snake, 2 hides, and a waterbowl.
Thanks.
Re: Throwing the glass AWAY!
Yeah! They have a 66 quart sterilite on wheels! (at Walmart) I would so use that if i didnt have more than one or 2 snakes . I think it has the 2-sided top to, so you can open either side without taking the whole thing off. I smell convenience...
Re: Throwing the glass AWAY!
Heck no! LOL If they made a reptile section they'd just jack up the prices and I'd lose all my good bargains at WalMart, Lowe's, Home Depot and Dollar General!
I use these for my larger female ball pythons: Sterlite, clear with split opening clip down lid, 39" long x 19" wide x 6.5" deep, $11.99 at WalMart. They are a nice and do have wheels (though are not off the floor, less than an inch maybe). However, the split top lid for all it's convenience makes the lid less rigid and you have to reinforce that area or the snake could easily escape. I do like them for them for the convenience of the split lid but that is a drawback to them.
WalMart has a really nice space heater...electric with oil in it (white, looks a bit like an old fashioned radiator). When I was in there on Sunday they were retailing it at my local Walmart for $35.00. A lot of people here seem to use them for their snake rooms.

Re: Throwing the glass AWAY!
If you are building a Lidless rack (which I highly recommend) YES! It is very important for the "gap" from the top edge of the tub to the bottom surface of the shelf above it (acting as the lid) to be very minimal. You want it to be about 1/8th inch or slightly less if housing small animals. The lidless rack is better for maintenance, it is quicker to handle and clean and it has better ventilation while still holding heat and humidity well. It takes a little more skill and a lot more patience to build lidless, but it is a better system.
Take Care,

How do you get the perfect gap between the tub and rack? Ive heard of putting folded card stock paper under it, pegboard, melamie, etc.. What is the best way?
