Re: milky eyes in my python
The cloudiness is fluid separating the outer layer of skin from the younger skin underneath. The fluid drains off, then the snake sheds. This is why they look almost normal in color just before a shed.

Well I've learnt something new too - it's all good :)
And, Diamond1, don't worry about your daughter knowing more about that stuff than you - mine is wayyyyyy ahead of me in all things computer/camera/ipod related :D God knows what I'll do when they leave home!! :clueless:

Hey Karma,
Have you ever noticed that after the eyes go blue, that after a few days everything goes back to clear including the eyes and you think you've missed the shed?
The shed generally happens a few days after everything goes to clear (at least in my limited experience! ;) )
Re: milky eyes in my python
my ball has only shed once. and i didnt have like a 24/7 cam on her and I wasn't watching her every move. I just left her alone for a lil while. forgive me for replying. I won't talk again.
Re: milky eyes in my python
Karma, please don't feel you can't "talk" in this forum. A gentle reminder to keepers to remember the difference between a guess/something you've read or something from actual experience isn't that rare around here. It's not done to offend you or single you out dear, but more to remind us all that those that come here for advice and guidance do so with the expectation that what they read is based on the wisdom of actual hands on experience. We've all been guilty in our zeal to help another of over-stepping and doing this exact same thing and have learned to temper that a bit as time goes on.
You have something to contribute here as we all do. I'm still relatively new in the great scheme of things as well and learn something new every day as well as pass on what small things I've learned along the way when I can. I've also seen just how many things I thought were "gospel" that have turned out to be just a common misconception floating around the web.
Hope this clears things up a bit for you and you continue to feel welcome here.

Karma,
My deepest apologies, my reply was not meant as a criticism of you at all. I'm sorry that it came across that way. As I was writing it, in my head it was a friendly "hey have you ever noticed?" as an observation, not as a criticism of you.
I've enjoyed your posts, this is no reason not to post here again! :(
